Eye patch

Photography by Adrian Chan

I was inspired by a tutorial I saw on The Beauty Department (which I will include below). I actually found this look a little difficult. I didn’t have a very steady hand cutting the white stripes so they are a little crooked! The tutorial I read suggested using the stripes from the Sally Hansen’s French Manicure Kit but I tried using regular old tape instead. I painted the tape with white polish and then cut each piece of tape into 4 slivers. I found lining up the tape a little tricky, I think next time I would just try to paint on the stripes myself. I am on my second day with this look and the tape is starting to peel (despite 2 layers of top coat). I imagine the Sally Hanson strips wouldn’t fair much better. I love this look but I think painting the stripes directly onto the nail would make them last longer.

Thoughts? I hope you didn’t get caught in the rain today like me! :S

OMG I have to say that I’m not into the nautical theme as far as wearing it. I just don’t think I can pull it off, but I LOVE this look. So interesting.

This look is a bit dramatic, but the nice thing is it only lasts for a few days 🙂

Very cute. What kind of tape did you paint white?

      Hey Christina,

I just used regular old scotch tape!

I just did this mani last week 🙂 I instead started off with the lighter base (in my case, silver), taped off some strips, then painted the dark blue over it. Not entirely straight stripes, but at least there isn’t tape that will start to peel off in a few days 🙂
