L: HydraQuench Cream-Gel Normal to Combination Skin R: Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster
I’ve never used Clarins before, so when I was lucky enough to be invited to their launch party during World MasterCard Fashion Week in March I was really excited to learn more about the brand. I learned that Clarins began in a beauty spa in Paris back in 1954. What started as a line of essential massage oils has now become an international cosmetics and skincare brand. They have just launched their first self tanning product and I was super excited to try it out.
When I think of self tanners, I certainly don’t think of natural ingredients. I think that is what intrigued me the most about the new Clarins Glow Booster. It boasts 99.8 percent natural ingredients with no yucky DHA odor. It does contain DHA, which is necessary to give your skin colour it just doesn’t stink : ) If you have ever used self tanners before like me, you know what smell I’m talking about!
At the event I saw a demo which suggested that you add 3 drops to your favourite moisturizer and then use 2 drops to maintain the colour you like. I like this idea because you don’t have to change your skincare routine at all. You simply add a few drops to whatever cream you are currently using and get an added sun-kissed effect!
After trying this out for a few weeks, I have to say that I am impressed!
I definitely got a golden glow from this product that looked natural and even. The downside was that 3 drops was too much for me. My tan was still even, but it was too dark compared to the rest of my body. I found that 2 drops was the sweet spot to give me a little added colour and 1 drop daily to maintain it.
I have been using it with the Clarins HydraQuench Cream, which is great if you have dry skin like me! I am always prone to rashes and redness when I use new skincare, but I haven’t had any issued with this new cream. It does have a strong smell which I don’t really care for though, if there was one thing I would change it would be to make this cream unscented.
The Glow Booster is a 15ml dropper bottle which will last you approximately 3 months. It’s hard to believe this tiny bottle will last that long, but I am on week 3 and I haven’t even used a quarter of it yet!
If you’ve tried this out yourself please let me know what you think : )

this sounds great! i am very curious about a before/after. i have never used a self-tanning product before but i like that you don’t need a new cream to use this one.

The before and after was very subtle, but I liked it! This one might be a good first one to try because you can control how many drops you add which is nice.

$30 isn’t cheap, but if it really lasts 3 months like it claims it’s a good value!

Self-tanners scare me, I think I’ve seen too many orange horrors, lol!
This sounds like a great product though.

Self-tanners can certainly be tricky!

I’m still not entirely convinced this would work for me, but the promise of a ‘glow’ is so appealing…I wonder if I could use a half drop? 😉

Do you have skin tone closer to me or Julie? I’ve found it works well for me, but Julie is more fair than me and it didn’t work as well for her.
