It’s week three of the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Mask-off!
This week is all about the great benefits of nut oils. I tried out the Montagne Jeunesse Nut Oil Clay Face Mask. This clay based mask has baobab seed oil to soften and moisturize the skin while the marula oil helps to deep cleanse. After doing a little research is discovered that Sephora carries a Pure Marula Facial Oil for $78. While this mask is only for a one time use, it will only run you $1.99 and you get the benefits of this incredibly moisturizing nut oil. Also, all Montagne Jeunesse products are Vegetarian Society approved, not tested on animals and cruelty-free (BUAV Approved).
Remember that you can pick up these masks online at Farley Co and also at:
- London Drugs
- Select Loblaws
- Select Zehrs
- Walmart
On to the face mask selfies!
During my first week in San Francisco I went to a Benefit Cosmetics Boutique (I will be posting about my experience there on Friday) to get my legs waxed. One of the lovely ladies working at Benefit is named Sarah and – wouldn’t you know it – she is ALSO a beauty blogger (check her out at Goldenhair Beauty). I told her all about this mask challenge that the CBB girls are doing and she graciously gave me this mask headband! Not only is it adorable, it also protected any stray hairs from getting caught in my mask. THANKS SARAH!
- Comfort: 2/5 – It sort of burned my skin while I was applying it. I think it’s because the active deep cleansing ingredients were going to work. It wasn’t painful and it went away after I finished applying it. Also, my face also got really stiff as it dried due to the clay. Not my fav.
- Aroma: 4/5 – It smelled like macadamia nuts to me, which I really like!
- Result: 4/5 – It left my skin feeling soft and hydrated. I noticed some of my redness went away as well!
- Ease of use: 4/5 – It was thick and easy too apply, but it got a bit messy when it came to washing it off (clay requires a face cloth to really remove it)
Overall score: 14

she sounds so nice! and i didn’t know they did other waxing jobs. thought they just did brows but that’s probably b/c sephora locations are much smaller than full store concepts.

I had no idea they offered all these spa services either, I’ve only ever seen Benefit at Shoppers or Sephora! Apparently Benefit in SF has had these kind of boutiques since the very beginning of their brand. They need to bring more of them to Canada!

The head band was super helpful! It wouldn’t be a CBB post if there wasn’t a silly mask selfie 🙂
Anna says
I was going to say, that seems pretty handy 😛
Megan Joy says
It really helped a lot, my stray hairs getting caught in my mask anymore 🙂
Natalie Heather says
Oh my gosh, you honestly take the cutest mask selfies. It’s a shame about the burning sensation, but I do find deep cleansing products tend to have some sort of burning/stinging sensation.
Megan Joy says
Totally, deep cleansing masks usually get tinkly on my skin and thankfully it stopped after I finished applying it 🙂
Chantal says
That’s so nice of her to give you that mask headband, and it looks great!
I loved the scent of this mask! But not a fan of the drying feeling.
Megan Joy says
Agreed, I loved the smell but it turns your face to stone once it’s dries lol
Sarah says
Oh my gosh you mentioned me!! Eeeeeek ! I totally love you and your website does look pretty dang fabulous!
Megan Joy says
Thanks so much Sarah! I am loving all of the lipstick posts on your blog, can’t wait to see more 🙂
Chelsey says
I love that headband! If i had one last week it would have saved me lots of pain, when I got the peel off mask in my hair. My skin is kinda sensitive so I hope I doesnt burn or irritate my face.
Megan Joy says
Totally, I wish I had this headband last week! It would have been great for the peel off mask.
Julie says
Look at you already making bblogger friends!! Don’t forget to find Karen from MBB and hang out with her at the MAC store!
Megan Joy says
I’m trying to becoming Twitter friends with her hee hee!

I am a massive fan of face oils. But I’ve never tried an oil mask. As I get older I’m noticing my skin is getting drier and I’m usung masks more often because I find them such a deeply nourishing treatment. I do like the sound of this nut oil one. Great post and just love your selfies! Tx
Megan Joy says
Thanks Tracey 🙂 My skin is changing a lot too, once I hit my mid-20’s all of a sudden my skin became super sensitive!
MizzJ says
Ouch, that sucks that it made your skin burn! This one was my favourite of the series so far. It left my skin feeling cleansed and soft.
Megan Joy says
Yay glad you liked it 🙂 It did smell amazing!
Jen says
Sounds like such a nice treat! Have really been enjoying this mask series- will have to keep my eyes open for these next time I’m at Wal-Mart 🙂
Megan Joy says
If you try them out let me know what you think! They are great quality for the price point for sure.
