Finding dresses and suits for the wedding party can be stressful. You want everyone to look great but you also want them to feel comfortable. The dream would be for them to be able to wear their wedding party attire again, but depending on how formal your wedding is that’s not always realistic.
With a maid of honour living 7 hours away and two very pregnant bridesmaids it made scheduling a time for dress shopping pretty interesting. But my wonderful bridal party made it happen, no matter how far away or how busy they were. I love those ladies so much! Somehow the stars aligned and everyone was able to meet in St. Catharines one Saturday afternoon : )
We met at Paula’s Bridal (obvs) to begin the dress hunt. As I said, two of my bridesmaids were pregnant so we were looking for styles that would be flattering to their post-baby bodies (both delivered before the wedding). My bridal party was so easy going but I can also trust them to be honest. After a few dresses that were just luke warm, we found one that was perfect!
The style we settled on was a shorter length chiffon dress from Allure Bridals (Style 1266 to be exact). It looked amazing on everyone! The slightly empire waist was so figure flattering and the fabric was flowy and romantic. I decided on the shade waterfall which is a lovely pale mint shade. There are no photos of the dress we ordered in the right colour so I will show an example.
We ordered this dress:

I can’t explain how much I love these dresses. They looked stunning on my bridal party! I mean seriously, how gorgeous are they?!

I really wanted their individuality to shine through even though they were all wearing the same dress. They did their hair however they wanted to and wore the earrings of their choice. We all had matching bracelets, but more on that in a later post : ) Also I wanted them to wear nude or blush coloured shoes in whatever style they wanted. I love this photo below! Each pair is a little different in style and colour but it still “goes” together. Nah mean? Obvs I had to have mint shoes to match their dresses hee hee!
My shoes are from Nina Forbes in the colour Satin Mint. They ended up being more green than I wanted which I had a few tears over (one of a few bridzilla moments). But in the end I was still really happy with them. They were sooo comfortable!

For James and the groomsman they custom ordered suits. Since our wedding was a slightly rustic theme tuxedos just seemed too formal. The nice thing about the suits they chose is that they can wear them again. They all looked so handsome!

The thing about searching for bridesmaid dresses is that there are no rules. The dresses don’t need to match! I’ve seen lovely weddings where each bridesmaid has a completely different dress but they are all a similar colour. Or sometimes the maid of honour has a dress that is slightly different than the rest of the bridesmaids! Choose whatever will make you most happy, it’s your special day after all : )
How was your search for bridal party attire? Tell me all about it in the comments!

I felt like there weren’t a ton of blogs that shared this kind of info when I was engaged. I am sure there are but I never found any! I always wanted advice about where people got their dresses or how they did things, so hopefully this can be that for some other bride-to-be
