It’s Wedding Wednesday and today we are talking about shoes! If you want to check out the rest of my Wedding Wednesday posts you can check them out here : )
Oh heels – such a complicated relationship we have. Don’t get me wrong, I love a gorgeous stiletto as much as the next woman. In my dreams, I’d jump at the chance to wear Louboutins all day, urryday. But in reality, I’m a flats kind of gal. I rarely wear heels, generally only if I’m attending a wedding or a work party. So the idea of picking out shoes for my wedding was at the bottom of my priority list. Which explains why my shoes arrived 2 days before my wedding and they didn’t fit. Oh yeah, not cool.
I found the shoes I would be wearing to the ceremony early on. It was an easy choice because I simply repurchased shoes I already had. They were Nina Forbes heels in the colour Satin Mint.

I had worn the exact same shoes to my friend Ashley’s wedding (I was a bridesmaid) in 2011 in a cream colour. I liked them so much I just bought them in mint and that was it. Easy peasy! I loved them because they look formal and bridal yet I could actually walk in them. Sensible heels for the win!

They ended up being more green than I wanted which I had a few tears over. Mint is such a hard colour to match, some people think it’s more blue and others think it’s more green. Compared to my husbands socks (below) you can tell they are much more green but in the end I was still really happy with them. Out of all the mint accents in our wedding my shoes were the only thing that didn’t match, so it was ok.

The trouble came when I was trying to find shoes to change into at the reception. Many brides decide to change into flats after the ceremony, and considering I can barely walk in heels I thought this would be wise for me to do. I fell in love with these Mint Crochet Women’s Classics that I found online, but SHOCKER they were sold out everywhere.
I was calling every store I could find that stocked them and no one had them in my size. Fast forward to a week before the wedding and my husband found a pair that was available and ordered them for me. I was so excited! I tried them on the night before my wedding (they arrived the day prior) and…..they didn’t fit. They were huge. Way too big for me!
It was super frustrating because I own TOMS and always get the same size. Warning ladies – these crochet TOMS fit large, so the 6.5 fit more like a 7.5. I took in it stride and decided just to wear my Aldo sandals because no one was going to see them anyway right?
The wedding day is a hectic time and somewhere along the way I forgot to pack my sandals. I ended up just wearing my Nina Forbes heels all night and they were so comfortable I didn’t mind at all! No matter how organized you are, some things just fall through the cracks on your wedding day and you have to roll with it! And the day flies by so quickly everything seems to happen in a blur. All I know is I danced all night long with my friends and family and my feet weren’t killing me. Sounds like success to me! : )
What kind of shoes did you wear on your wedding day? Flats? Sky high heels? Let me know in the comments : )

It was all about the flats for me – they were navy and royal blue and gorgeous! They were a little tight in the toe though, so I ended up ditching them part way through the wedding dance, which was fine by me!

They sound lovely! Did you go barefoot? I considered it a few hours into dancing lol

those shoes are so cute! i love that you did mint accents, and that’s awesome they were that comfortable!

Thanks Zoë! I still love everything mint 🙂

Both of these shoes are so cute!! And you could totally wear them again. A friend of mine did teal as their wedding color and it was quite a tricky thing to match too. Who knew that colors were so difficult?

As much as I love mint, I would never recommend it to another couple to use as a wedding colour. We had such a hard time matching everything bc some things were green and others were blue!

I love the mint accents you used in your wedding, Megan. My favourite colour is similar – pistachio. I wore cowboy boots to my wedding. They were super comfortable and are something I can continue to wear. They were difficult to get off at the end of the night, after dancing and sweating in them all day 😉

That’s amazing! I saw your photos, you looked incredibly gorgeous. Funny story, my two final dress choices were the one I got and the one you wore! We were almost bride twinsies!

Since we’re planning an outdoors wedding, and I can’t wear heels for more than an hour before I slip them off, I’m leaning towards wearing flats for my wedding. I’m thinking a nice pair of silver sandals, but I haven’t really put much thought into it yet!

It funny I didn’t give my shoes much thought at all. Then all of a sudden a month before I was like “I need flats! Oops!” Silver sandals would be lovely!
We had an outside ceremony on cobble stone. I totally almost tripped a few times lol
