Review: Valentia Skin Care Even Glow Vitamin C Serum with 20% Vitamin C

August 25, 2014 2 Comments

I recently tried the Even Glow Serum by Valentia Skin Care ($85 Sale $35). The main 3 ingredients are Organic Rosehip oil, Organic Sea Buckthorn Oil and Vitamin C.

Organic Rosehip oil can increase collagen production which is great for plumping up the skin and diminishing fine lines. Organic Sea Buckthorn Oil has been shown to have beneficial effects on rosacea due to it’s anti inflammatory properties (love it!). This serum also boasts 20% vitamin C which can even skin tone, reduce wrinkles and repair damage (such as hyperpigmentation).

Here’s what Valentia has to say about the other key ingredients:

  • Resistem (Plant Stem Cells): Protects against stress-related aging while promoting skin detoxification.
  • Hyaluronic Acid (Botanical): Allows your skin to retain more moisture than before while simultaneously increasing elasticity and firmness.
  • Green Tea: The catechins contained in green tea are a potent antioxidant which also contribute to the overall anti-inflammrtory, and anti-irritant benefits of this ancient health and beauty secret.

Valentia Even Glow Serum review

The serum needs to be shaken a few times before you use it because the natural ingredients can separate. After giving it a good shake I use 2-3 drops and apply to my face and neck. This is much thicker than other serums I’ve used but it is by far the fastest absorbing. It’s a light yellow shade but it blends into the skin without any visible colour. There is no greasy feel or oily residue with this one! My skin feels dewy and taught. It’s not tight or uncomfortable it just feels firm.

The smell is my favourite part. It’s very citrusy, almost like orange or grapefruit! I like this serum for the morning because it soaks in so fast I can put on my moisturizer and makeup right away. I don’t think I could ever give up my Vitamin E Serum from The Body Shop, which is great because I can use the Valentia serum in the morning and The Body Shop one at night!

So let’s get to the results. Does this serum really benefit the skin?

I’ve only been using it for 3 weeks and generally Vitamin C takes about 4-6 weeks to show results but I will say that my skin feels smoother and the redness from my rosacea is diminished.  I haven’t had any reactions at all, no hives or skin sensitivity which is amazing. I would recommend this for all skin types because it’s fast absorbing (great for oily skin) and packed full of nutrient rich organic ingredients which are great for all skin types!

Have you tried anything from Valentia? What’s your favourite serum? Let me know in the comments!
