kryolan

It’s Kryolan time!

I was lucky enough to be invited to an event at the Kryolan location in San Francisco last week! I had the chance to learn more about this brand and purchase a few products too. After swatching a million different eyeshadows and discovering they have a lipglosses in EVERY colour, I was excited to take a few things home with me to put on my face. My friend Sarah took home a blue lipgloss, so basically both she and Kryolan are perfect in every way. What is makeup for if not to play and have fun with?

Kryolan began as a company that made cosmetics for the theatre and film. Eventually they expanded and are now a trusted brand of makeup artists all over the world. I love trying out new brands and I was like a kid in a candy store touching everything and testing it all out.

Keep reading to see my review of the these products plus the makeup look I created : )

lipstick

Lipstick in LF 446 ($8.50 US)

I was a little disappointed in this lipstick. It tugs on the lips when applying and settles into lip lines, and also clings to dry patches. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised considering this line was created for vibrant theatrical makeup, but the formula was thick and the colour was crazy intense. Not necessarily a bad thing though, for a photoshoot or if you are going for a super pigmented look.

I found the best way to wear this lipstick is to apply a lip balm first then apply the lipstick. The balm allows the lipstick to glide on much easier and gives a nice wash of colour that isn’t too opaque. Their lipstick line is available in more than 30 shades, which is pretty coolio.

lipgloss

High Gloss in Star Fruit ($19.50 US)

This gloss was given to me as part of a goodie bag from the event. Not really sure when I will be wearing this mustard yellow lipgloss, but you know…maybe one day?

Perhaps this will come in candy for a Halloween costume? Kryolan makeup is notoriously awesome for creating halloween looks after all. It’s a bit shimmery and has a nice texture it’s just that it’s…yellow. Thanks anyway Kryolan!

correctors

Derma Color Twin Set in D62/P11 ($25.80 US)

Ok, this is the shining star of my Kryolan haul. I love love love it. The concealer is super full coverage and smooths over pores like a dream. I also use it for under eye concealing and it works wonders. The setting powder is lightweight and easy to work with. Just twist the compact in half to expose the setting powder below (complete with the most adorable application puff EVER). Do yourself a favour and pick this up! It comes in 11 different shades so you are sure to find the perfect match for your skin tone!

eyeshadow

Metallique in Pure Bronze ($25.95 US)

This colour looks really dark when you first open it, but when applied it’s actually a beautiful creamy copper shade that is totally wearable and perfect for fall. I’d suggest using your finger tips to apply this though. I used a shadow brush and it built up in my brush big time and was a pain to wash out. Verdict? I like it!

highlighter

Illusion in Velvet ($18.95)

This is a creamy highlighter that can be used as a shadow as well. It’s also a cream so fingers work best when applying. I used this on my cheek bones and under neath my brows and it gave my skin a nice dewy glow. A little goes a long way with this so don’t be fooled by the small-ish packaging.

nail polish

Nail Color in Exclusive ($9.95 US)

This polish is thin but I achieved full opacity after 3 coats. It stayed chip-free for 3 days with a top coat (that’s average for me) and the pearly metallic colour is really pretty. It’s comparable to drugstore polish and around the same price. Not something worth seeking out my books but if you come across it give it a try!

Here is the look I created using these Kryolan products!

    lololol “come in candy” 😉
So fun! Wish I could have gone to this event, I’m really bummed I missed out! That yellow gloss is super funky, I wanna see it on! I remember seeing you with a blue lip color somewhere and aside from the initial confusion, I actually think it looked really good! Maybe the Gloss can be multipurpose in some way….. maybe? haha

Haha yes I did a post with blue lipstick from NYX and while it was fun it wasn’t something I’d wear every day lol Maybe I will find a use for that yellow gloss : )

When I walked into the store I felt that way, it was so over the top and theatrical (for obvious reasons). But after using the products I feel like they are completely easy to use for every day makeup!

The colour of the lipstick looks really pretty – too bad the formula wasn’t too good!

Where can kryolan be found in Canada? If not at stores, is it available online?
