A big thanks to Zoë from Writing Whimsy for being my guest blogger this month! Zöe has an amazing blog that features everything from lipstick to David’s Tea : ) This month she is sharing her favourite products to use for Halloween!
Even though Halloween is my favourite holiday ever (it just so happens to be my birthday as well!) I was a little stuck on what to share for my Halloween Favourites, mainly because I’m not really one to do dramatic costume makeup these days. But I realized while “shopping my stash” I actually have quite a few makeup products that would work well not only for Halloween, but the rest of the year as well–depending on how daring you are!
First up is a shocking eye colour, and I think if there’s anytime to play with bright colours it’s Halloween, and the L’Oreal Infallible in Endless Sea definitely meets that criteria. It’s a gorgeous, shimmery teal shade that has a super creamy pigmented formula. These are definitely some of my favourite shadows at the drugstore! You can see my reviews of a couple more “wearable” shades here.
For blush, I had to go with the Essence Dark Romance Velvet Mousse Blush* (reviewed here) because it kinda looks like something out of a horror movie, and it also does a bit of a magical transformation–it sheers out to a gorgeous flushed shade on your cheeks.
If you visit my blog, I talk a lot about how much I love things in crayon format, so of course I had to include a couple of those in any favourites, even Halloween Favourites. The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk is a Halloween classic, it’s not the best for lasting on your eyelids, but it’s really effective for any costume looks. They also have a billion other shades available.
I also think Halloween is the perfect time to go for a vampy lip, and although I’ve only worn my Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick in Havana outside of my house once, someday I will have the confidence for this dark, gorgeous berry shade. It has a pretty narrow point for a lip pencil which is great for precision application, and it wears down to a gorgeous stain as well.
My final two Halloween Favourites help complete the spooky look. The Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Starry Night is a part of their Halloween display, although it’s available year-round, and it’s a really gorgeous black jelly with sparkles as well as shards of glitter. It looks like a midnight sky applied on the nails, although it does chip easily, it looks so gorgeous it’s definitely worth it.
I’m a fragrance junkie, and Laga Gaga Fame* (reviewed here) just says Halloween to me because it’s actually a black perfume! It does disappear when applied to the skin, but it definitely looks dramatic in the bottle. It also has a delicious honey scent to it that’s perfect for fall.
Well, that’s it for my Halloween Favourites. Basically, dark, bright, and vampy, these are all products that work well for Halloween, or the rest of the fall season, it’s all about how you apply them!

I love your product selections! The Essence blush is definitely scary looking in the tube, but is such a nice flushed look when blended really well.

A base of make-up should help your colors continue smoothly and stay in place for a long time to get through a Halloween event
or a longer nights trick-or-treating. Instead of buying expensive
make-up bases from Halloween suppliers, you should use your
regular foundation.
