Last Minute DIY Halloween Costume: Cat + Giveaway!

October 25, 2014 17 Comments

I am notorious for leaving my Halloween costume to the last minute.

This is quite ridiculous considering Halloween is one of my my favourite holidays! However I often find myself waiting until the week before to decide what to wear and by then the costume stores are sold out of all the “good” costumes, wigs and accessories. I then have to put my creative hat on and try to salvage something out of the items I already have.

Today I’m going to show you a DIY costumes that you can throw together with items you probably already have in your closet! I’ll be posting a few more of these over the next couple days!

Makeup Inspiration Photo: Deea Makeup, Cat Headband: Claire’s,
Black Leggings: Forever 21, Black Tunic Tip: Urban Outfitters,
Press-On Nails: Etsy

The only thing you might need to purchase is a cat head band which will be easy to find. Cat ear headbands are really trendy right now so you can find them at Claire’s, ModCloth and Forever 21! Just dress in all black and get creative with your makeup. I love this look that Deea Makeup created for her cat costume!

Here’s the makeup look that I created

My headband is from Claire’s and my lipstick is the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in New York Scene.

If you really want to vamp up your look you can use contact lenses! These cat eye contacts I’m wearing in the photo below are from Lenscircle.com. They are quite thick compared to traditional contact lenses but were still surprisingly comfortable. And I could see perfectly while wearing them. They are also great if you really want to freak out your husband : )

I tried to get a photo of Buffy and I but this is the best I could get. Me making an “Ahhhh” face and her being indifferent. So basically business as usual.

Now it’s giveaway time!

You can enter to win any pair of contacts from lenscircle.com! ANY PAIR! They have cartoonish ones like mine but they also have more subtle ones that you could wear in daily life. Everything from brown to violet contacts can be found on their website!

*This giveaway is international.

I still haven’t found a costume yet either. First year traditionally celebrating Halloween since High School. The cat costume just might be the DIY I’m looking for.

    Good job Megan :)

As I was scrolling through FB I caught a look of your eyes with the contacts in just out of the corner of my eye and I was sufficiently freaked out! 😛 Other than my momentary “AH!” this look is adorable, Megan!!

I’m not going out for halloween so I had fun creating this look. It made me feel like I was still dressing up!
