Aveeno Fresh Essentials Review + Giveaway!

aveeno-fresh-essentials

Hold the phone. There’s less than 2 weeks to Christmas. WHAT!?

In other news, if you’ve read my blog for a while you know that I have very dry skin and as a result I’ve probably sampled most (if not all) the body lotions offered at Shopper’s Drugmart.

One that I keep coming back to is the Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion, it’s fragrance free and gives my skin pretty intense moisture. So when Aveeno asked if I’d like to try out their Aveeno Active Naturals Fresh Essentials skincare line I was more than happy to! Formerly “Smart Essentials” this collection is now the Fresh Essentials lineup. Similar packaging and the same superior skincare you expect from Aveeno.

Speaking of packaging, these products have billy balls on them! Billy Balls (aka Crespedia) along with Babies Breathe were my wedding flowers so clearly I am already in love with the design of these!

They also recently secured Jennifer Aniston as their brand ambassador. Aside from being one of my favourite tv actresses ever, she also has amazing skin so this was a perfect match for Aveeno.

aveeno-face-scrub

Aveeno Fresh Essentials Daily Exfoliating Scrub

This daily face wash contains natural Luffa which is in the cucumber family. The fibrous fruit is used to make luffa sponges and can be found as an exfoliant in skincare as well. The grains are very very fine, sort of like sand. The actual cream of the scrub is very velvety which leaves your skin feeling super soft. Gentle as it is I can’t use this every day but I have been using it a few times a week to keep my skin exfoliated. I have very sensitive skin but if you have oily or combination skin you should be able to use this daily without issues!

aveeno-moisturizer

Aveeno Fresh Essentials Nourishing Moisturizer SPF 30

This oil-free moisturizer contains vitamins A, C and E as well as SPF 30. I’m pushing 30 and wearing sunscreen every day should really be part of my daily skincare routine. Sadly, it is not. I hate wearing sunscreen. The smell, the greasy feeling, the whole thing is just an extra skincare step I usually skip. I KNOW GUYS I’M SO BAD.

I am happy to report that this lightweight lotion does not smell like sunscreen and it absorbs pretty well. No shiny finish up in here! One downside is that it has quite a strong fragrance. I like the scent, but it’s strong. If are sensitive to fragrance in products you might not like this one.

aveeno-night-cream

Aveeno Fresh Essentials Hydrating Night Cream

This thick night cream contains Southernwood which is in the same family as Wormwood. Southernwood has a ton of uses and can be used as an insect repellant, a digestive aid and a treatment for skin disorders. It’s a pretty potent ingredient! I’ve been applying this after my serum at night and feel that it does a good job of hydrating my skin overnight. As I mentioned, all these products have a noticeable scent but I enjoy it so I don’t mind!

Seems like a nice selection of products here! I usually have oily combo skin, but right now with the winter my skin is really dry. The moisturiser looks nice!

Aveeno is kind of hard to get your hands on in the UK, but it sounds fab so next time I’m in the US I’ll have to check it out :)
