Brighten Up Your Skin with Amie Skincare!

I’m living in San Francisco right now so the weather here is chilly but nothing like the “Canada cold” I’m used to! Though there’s no snow on the ground, I am still starting to notice the effects of the dry weather on my skin. My cuticles are always the first thing that start getting dry and I know it’s not long before the rest of my skin follows suit. NOT COOL WINTER. I am coming home to Ontario for the holidays and in preparation for the frigid cold I am reaching for products that help give my skin back some of its vibrance!

Amie Skincare is a drugstore brand that focuses on gentle ingredients so that their products are safe for all skin types including those with sensitive skin (*me!*). This UK based company is now available at Shoppers Drugmart locations across Canada. When they asked me to review some of their “Winter Skincare Saviours” of course I was totally down.

Amie BRIGHT EYES Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover ($8 CAD)

This oil-free formula contains cornflower and cucumber to keep the eye area fresh and bright. The dry winter weather can leave my skin looking dull so anything that helps keep skin vibrant and hydrated is good by me. It smells very sweet, almost like candy!

I have sensitive eyes which got even more sensitive after I had laser-eye surgery earlier this year.  Makeup remover is always a struggle for me. I HAVE to use it but it always burns and leaves my eyes red and irritated. This formula didn’t burn my eye area at all and did a good job at removing my waterproof liner and mascara.

In the photo below I’ve applied the Avon Mega Effects Liquid Eyeliner to show you how well this makeup remover works.

I applied the remover to the cotton pad and pressed it on the back of my hand for 10 seconds. Then gave a little rub and voila – it removed almost all of the liquid liner! There are still few traces of liner left behind but considering I didn’t have to rub hard and irritate my skin I’m quite impressed!

amie-moisturizer

Amie MORNING LIGHT Hydrating Moisturiser (12 CAD)

This lightweight lotion is a little to lightweight for me, but if you have combination or oily skin this would be great. It’s fast absorbing and doesn’t leave any greasy feeling behind. It contains rosehip oil to hydrate and mallow extract to soften and smooth dry winter skin.

It has a nice floral fragrance, it’s not a strong scent but it’s definitely noticeable. It fades quickly after applying so if you don’t care for the smell it doesn’t last long! If you are looking for a light daily moisturizer that will help your skin look vibrant and bright I’d say give this one a try!

I can’t believe it’s only 11 days until Christmas! I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season this year : ) I still have a LOT of holiday shopping to do though.

Are you done your Christmas shopping yet? Let me know in the comments!

* Some of the products featured were sent to me for consideration. As always, my reviews and opinions are my own.

This sounds like a good brand to try out! That makeup remover looks impressive. I usually go for daytime moisturizers that have an SPF, just so I can eliminate an extra step in my morning routine, but it sounds nice! I’m all done Christmas shopping, except I have to get a stocking stuffer for one of my brothers. :)

I believe it’s available only available Canada at most drugstore locations, but hopefully it will expand to the US soon :)

Every time I’m in Walmart I think about purchasing these products. But I think I should probably use what I have in my house first….
