I should really buy a lottery ticket because I have been so lucky lately! I won flight and accommodations to the Spark Sessions Blogger Conference in Toronto in November. As icing on the cake while I was attending the conference I also won a draw for a Clarisonic Aria Sonic Cleansing System (now called Mia 3)!
I know everyone says this but – I never win anything! When they called my name for the Clarisonic prize I actually pointed to myself and mouthed “me??” I have been wanting to try it for so long and was so thankful to have won!
So what is the Clarisonic you ask? Well, let me tell you!
The Clarisonic Cleansing System is a whole new way to experience skincare. It uses a sonic frequency with more than 300 movements per second. I don’t get it either, let’s just agree that it’s a heck of a lot of movements in one second! This technology removes six-times more makeup and dirt than just using your hands and cleanser alone. By gently exfoliating your skin it also helps improve the tone and overall look of your skin.
The box comes with the body, one brush head, the charging cord and stand. Also included was a sample size of their cleanser which I haven’t yet tried. This particular model seems to be phased out but the Clarasonic Mia 3 has all the same features as far as I can tell.
The stand sits on my bathroom counter and takes up very little room. The first time I charged it I left it for a full 24 hours and after that a fully charged Clarasonic battery will last for 20 minutes of use. That might not seem like a lot but thats actually about 20 days of use if you cleanse once a day. That means if you are going on vacation you can likely leave your charger at home which means less to pack in your toiletries bag. More room for makeup am I right?
I use this at night to remove my makeup and deep clean my skin. First I use a seperate eye makeup remover to take off my mascara and eyeliner. I apply my cleanser all over my face, then wet the Clarisonic and use it on Speed 1 (for sensitive skin). It’s a weird feeling, it’s like a vibration which is a little strange.
Speed 1 is for delicate and sensitive skin, Speed 2 is universal and Speed 3 is for when you need to get an extra deep clean.
I have found that after a month of using the Clarisonic my skin is in much better shape. I still get breakouts but the overall tone of my skin is smoother for sure. The pores on my nose seem much less prominent and I have way less blackheads (hallelujah!) I have also noticed that the products I use on my skin afterward work even better and my toner and serum are able to penetrate my skin even deeper than before. If you can’t tell…I kinda like the Clarisonic.
On the left is the brand new Aria brush head and the right is after using it the first time. You can really tell that it removed all my makeup! I used my toner on a cotton pad afterwards thinking there would be ton of makeup left on my skin but I was pleasantly surprised. My skin was totally makeup free! The bristles are a bit stained now from my foundation but I use a gentle soap every few days to remove any product build up.
This is not a cheap product and will run you $199, but I think it’s an investment if you want to improve your skincare routine. If you have problem skin this might be something to look into!
Have you used the Clarisonic before? If so let me know what you think of it in the comments!

I want a clarisonic SO badly but I need to save up for it (which means getting my spending in check!)
Megan Joy says
It’s not cheap! Before I won it I was saving up for one too. It’s def an investment : )

Oh so fancy :O
Perhaps one day I’ll buy one, though I am quite satisfied with my Olay cleansing brush right now. Of course it doesn’t compare to a Clarisonic, but it gets the job done.
Megan Joy says
I have heard good things about the Olay one as well! This is the only one I’ve tried but I’m very impressed : )

I love the Clarisonic and can’t recommend it enough!
Megan Joy says
Agreed, so glad I finally got a chance to try it!

I’m glad you are enjoying your Clarisonic!! It’s a pretty cool gadget and the Aria really is the best! There is a new one being officially released in Jan that even senses the where on your skin it is and adjusts the pressure accordingly!
Insider info though, the term Mia 3 is only used by Sephora it seems. I used it and the Clarisonic rep said it’s only on certain packaging that are Sephora exclusives. She also said it’s best not to use the Clarisonic for makeup removal and that it’s best used on clean skin. It helps the brush heads last longer than the 3 months and makes them look less “used”.
You have been looking pretty radiant in your videos, so yay!
Megan Joy says
The weird thing is even on Clarisonic.com there is no Aria, only the Mia 3 (though the URL says Aria). So confusing! See here – http://www.clarisonic.com/shop-our-products/clarisonic-aria-CL13.html
Thanks for the insider info! Maybe I’ll try removing my makeup first then cleansing with the Clarisonic and see if I get better results!
Jayne says
I think it’s a US vs Canada thing? When I search on the .ca site there is no Mia 3, just Aria! Even the rep said it was confusing.
Megan Joy says
It must be a US thing then! Though it’s weird that the URL would still say Aria lol Oh well, either way it works well! : )
