Happy New Years Eve everyone! Today’s contributor is Kaitly from Kaitlyn Elisabeth Beauty. She’s another Toronto blogger and we were actually able to meet in real life at the Spark Sessions Blogger Conference back in November. I’m so happy to have her on sharing some New Year Eve nail art today!
You can find Kaitlyn on Twitter, Instagram and Google+!
Hello everyone! I’m Kaitlyn and I blog over at Kaitlyn Elisabeth Beauty. I’m so excited to be guest posting here on Megan Joy during the holidays. I hope you all have had a wonderful holiday season so far : ) I thought I would post a great nail art design for New Year’s Eve and hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!
You’ve picked out the perfect outfit for New Year’s Eve but don’t know what to do with your nails? Fret no more! Put the glitz and glam of NYE onto your nails with some help of glittery fireworks.
This is a super easy nail design to accomplish (I promise!). All you need is a black nail polish and some glitter nail polish stripers.
I chose to use the Revlon Nail Art Expressionist in Night & Degas along with 4 different Stripe Rite polishes which are available at Sally Beauty Supply. Below I’ve put together a tutorial so you can see how easy this design truly is.
- Paint your nails with your black polish. I like the look of matte black myself. If you don’t have a matte black polish, use your regular one then put a matte top coat over top. I used two coats to make sure the coverage was even.
- Start with the colour of glitter you want to be the dominant one. Create a starburst design by painting lines going all different directions. Place the centre of the starburst wherever you like on the nail and change this placement for each nail.
- Take your second glitter colour and create another starburst design in the empty spaces of the first one.
- Go over the starburst design in the first colour to make it stand out more. I like to only do this for the first colour to add dimension to the fireworks.
- Voilà you’re done! I love the way the glitter and matte look together
- If you want this to last a lot longer, put a good top coat over top but you will lose the matte effect.
See how easy this is! Alternate the colours you use with each nail to add some extra interest to the design. You can even just do an accent nail with this design, paired with the matte black polish on the other nails.
I really hope you’ve enjoyed this post and will give this nail design a try! Thanks Megan for letting me guest post for you during the holidays.
Happy Holidays and have a Happy New Year!

Awesome nail design. I’ve never been a fan of matte nail polish but used with the sparkles is a great idea.
