I wanted to start sharing with you some of the places I’ve been going and things I’ve been doing while I’m here in San Francisco! I want to do this more often, not only to share my experiences with you but also to document my time here. It’s already been 8 months and the rest my time here is going to fly by. I want to make sure I remember it all!
There is an area about two blocks from my place called Hayes Valley. I would compare it to the Queen West area of Toronto. Lots of great restaurants, boutiques and shops that sell really unique things. They even have a little promenade in the middle of the area with a few food trucks and a juice bar!
I came across a little boutique called Lavish and as soon as I saw this sign outside I knew I had to go in. It reminds me of the Blue Banana Market in Kensington Market but smaller and a lot more selective. The owner of this store sources most of the products from local San Francisco vendors. You can find everything from greeting cards to apparel at this chic little shop.
I fell in love with the colour stories in this boutique. Each section had it’s own theme as you can see. I asked the person working there (hi James) and the colour stories for this season are Love Love Love (Valentine’s Day) Tropical Paradise (pinks, orange and yellow – hello fresh!) Floral Galore (can we talk about this phone case?) and finally Pink, Fuchsia, Peach.
Also I should mention I want all of the furniture in this store. ALL OF IT.
I was shopping for a pair of sunglasses and found these ones from A.J. Morgan. Obviously they came home with me! I love a good pair of giant sunnies. Nicole Richie would be proud.
I had to show a little Toronto pride here. T dot in the house! These metal letters are so cute and surprisingly light! These would look cool sitting on a floating shelf.
Here’s the Tropical Paradise “colour story”. First of all – give me that dresser right this minute. Are we weeking that flamingo scarf? That will be my next Lavish purchase.
Here’s is the Love Love Love colour story. All things Valentine’s Day but with a little personality. Strawberry cheesecake lollypops and “love” themed matchboxes are just the beginning.
Another gem were these Cookie and the Dude ($25 US) headbands. These handmade treasures are created by local San Francisco artist Helen. All made from 100% silk these vintage inspired accessories are as pretty displayed as they are to wear. And who are Cookie and Dude? Her dogs of course!
I picked up the purple one in the center. It gives you that bandana style but it’s so much easier and more comfortable to wear. It’s perfect for those days I just throw my hair up into a ponytail! Helen has an Etsy store as well but she only ships within the US so you’ll have to stop by Lavish if you ever come to visit!
That’s it for my first exploring San Francisco post! I’ll be doing these more in the coming months so look out for my next adventure!
