The Negative Space nail look has been popular for a while now and I’m a huge fan. The minimal style is so pretty and is one of the easiest “nail art” designs to create!
I have been loving the Essie nail polish In Stitches which is a beautiful red brown that is in the Pantone Colour of the Year (Marsala).
I applied one layer of clear base coat and then used my dotting tool from Essence and added the polka dots. I wish I had used less polish on the dotting tool because the finished look was really bumpy and not smooth even after I applied top coat. Less is more when using a tool like this!
While I am still a novice when it comes to nail art, I’d like to try using nail stickers the next time to get strips!
What do you think of the negative space nail look? Let me know in the comments below : )

Hee hee thank you! I need more practice on getting the dots a consistent size but it turned out ok I guess : )

How funny! I have the exact same polish and dotting tool as you! I didn’t even realise it’s the colour of the year!

I think with a bit more practice it would look better. I like it but I wish all the dots were the same size. Oh well : )

Oh you know I love them polka dots!
It just takes practice, but I think you did really well considering you don’t do dots very often. If you have a lot of polish on the dotting tool you just have to be good about controlling how hard you tap down on the surface. I find that I wipe off my dotting tool about every 2-3 dots because the leftover polish can make your dots look wonky after awhile.
