My little Buffy is 1 year old! Her birthday is March 13th 2014, which is exactly a year and a half after James and I got married! Now that she’s a year old I guess that means she is no longer a puppy, but she definitely still acts like one : ) In honour of her birthday I thought I would share the story of how Buffy came into our lives!
We got her 2 months after we moved to San Francisco in 2014. I was feeling a bit lonely after moving to a new city and we had been talking about getting a dog for a while. It just seemed like the right time as I was working from home and able to spend a lot of time with her while she was a puppy.
The first week we had her was terrible. I mean it. It was terrible. There were moments where I thought to myself that I had made a huge mistake. She was getting up every 2 hours through the night and she was peeing on every surface we had.
After a few weeks she settled into her new home and we fell completely in love with her. She’s insane and challenging (frenchies are notoriously stubborn) but we still love her. She’s been my companion while I adjusted to this new city and I’ve met so many people in my neighbourhood through them stopping to pet Buffy or have their dog meet her. It’s been an amazing way to meet new people : )
We got her a cake-shaped cookie for her birthday and she pretty much inhaled it. You can see her looking longingly at it in the photo above. I’m actually shocked I got this photo, it’s rare she shows this kind of restraint.
AAAANNND it’s gone. Psst Buffy, you got a little icing on your nose there…

Happy Birthday Buffy! I say she’s still a pup because ‘technically’ she’s only 7 in dog years! I didn’t think this was a thing but… wait until she gets into her teens. LOL I couldn’t believe how wild Alfie was (okay… and still is) when he hit his teenager years. hahaha.

Oh Alfie! So that’s what I have to look forward to? Let’s just say Buffy can’t get any more hyper than she already is. Something tells me it’s just her personality and not just a “puppy phase” lol
