Review: Influenster XO VoxBox

March 27, 2015 2 Comments

voxbox-1

I recently received a VoxBox from Influenster.com but I’ve been away on vacation so I haven’t had a chance to share it with you! I don’t get Influenster boxes very often but I was selected for this one and I was very interested to see what was in it. The theme was “XO VoxBox” meaning these are all products that you can use to prep yourself for a romantic night out!

I should mention that this box also included a coupon for a website called Adore Me which is a lingerie and loungewear brand. I didn’t use it but I’ve read a few other reviews of the brand and people love it! It’s a subscription service that offers a list of suggested items each month but you have the option to skip if you don’t want to purchase what’s in your “showroom”. It sounds really neat but I have way too many monthly subscriptions right now!

So as I said, the products in this box are meant to be used to pamper and prep yourself for that special someone in your life! Here’s what was inside:

Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Built-in Whitening Pen

Of course getting prepared for a night out with your sweetheart involves having fresh breath!

Ok, so full disclosure I was kind of surprised to find a toothbrush in my VoxBox. But I was about to go on vacation and I don’t like packing my electric toothbrush if I can avoid it simply for space saving reasons. I brought this with me to Hawaii and…I really didn’t like it. The bristles were so weak I feel like they didn’t even get my teeth clean. Attached to the brush is a little tube of whitening gel which claims to whiten your smile in just a few days. I didn’t notice a difference and the gel tasted nasty. #ByeFelicia

Colgate Optic White Toothpaste

This box also included toothpaste to go along with the Colgate toothbrush. I’m sad to say this was a thumbs-down product as well. It didn’t whiten my teeth at all, and it tasted really weird. My husband doesn’t mind it but I really disliked the taste of it.

Tide + Febreze Pods

Get those clothes so fresh and so clean before your big date!

This is another product I didn’t try because I have super sensitive skin and can’t use Tide products. However I’ve heard great things about it and it found a new home with a friend of mine.

John Frieda Beach Blonde Shampoo, Conditioner and Sea Salt Spray

You want your hair to be on point before meeting up for a date!

Now for the good stuff. These bottles were perfect for travel so they came along with me to Hawaii! When I saw this collection was called Beach Blonde I assumed it would be all about sea salt and texture. I was only half right – the shampoo and conditioner are actually super hydrating and aim to bring moisture back into hair after being in the water (or just being chemically treated like mine).

I really liked the shampoo and conditioner, it left my hair feeling super soft and silky plus they smell amazing. I only used the Sea Salt Spray once but it smelled like delicious coconut but not overpowering at all. I have super fine hair so salt sprays don’t usually work well for me. If I don’t blow dry my hair it’s super flat and fluffy so even under the best circumstances “air-dried” hair is not a good look on me. The spray did a decent job of adding a little texture to my otherwise stringy, flat, air-dried hair.

John Frieda Luxurious Volume In‑Shower Treatment – 7 Day Volume

The formula is supposed to penetrate the fibre of the hair and volumize each strand! I only used this once and it gave my hair a bit more volume which was nice, but it wasn’t anything outstanding. The Beach Blonde collection was the real standout!

Skinfix Hand Repair Cream

This light but powerful hand cream contains 1% colloidal oatmeal. I have dry skin year round so this little guy has not left my purse since I got it. It’s like Glysomed but it absorbs insanely fast. And it’s unscented so even my husband uses it occasionally. I was very pleasantly surprised but this one, it’s one of my favourite hand creams now.

That’s it for my Influenster #XOVoxBox!

Oh funny how you prefer a more hard bristle brush! I love the softest bristles on mine (because I feel it’s more gentle on my gums – not that I brush my gums.. but whatev). LOL BYFELICIA

I haven’t tried the colgate one in this ‘flavour’. The all red box scares me off for some reason hahahahaha.

Tide pods are all I use! What do you use for your washer??? I need to know!
