Spring makeup with Avon Ultra Colour Indulgence Lipstick

Avon is launching a new line of lipsticks for spring! As someone who’s used Avon since the age of 14 I always get excited to try out their latest collection. The new Avon Ultra Colour Indulgence Lipsticks ($12 CAD) are available starting in April and come in 12 gorgeous shades.

These new lippies are wax-free and offer a gel texture and creamy, vibrant colour. Avon sent me a few of the shades to try out and while I was secretly hoping to get Poppy Pink (a bright pink) these colours are more outside of my comfort zone. It was nice to play with tones I wouldn’t normally reach for (I’m looking at you Mr. Red Tulip) and experiment a little.

P.s. please don’t mind my hair. There’s still a bit of blue dye on the ends and it’s photographing a bit green.

P.s.s. I have bad allergies today and my eyes (and eyelids) are super puffy. ANYWAY….

plum verbena

Plum Verbena

This dark plum shade is the darkest shade I tried and it reminded me of another Avon lipstick I have in the colour Matte Amethyst (you can see my review of that lipstick here). The main difference is that this one has a lot of shine! It applies sheer at first but can be built up to more bold colour. It did bleed a little, but that always happens to me with liquidy formulas. The gel texture is really hydrating and applied easily without any tugging.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! This is my favourite by far. This peachy coral shade is so pretty for spring and didn’t bleed or feather like Plum Verbena. It’s a lovely everyday colour that I can see myself wearing a lot!

However, all these lippies have a more slippery texture than the average lipstick so you have to be careful when pressing your lips together than you don’t get product build-up around the edges of your mouth.

I really want to like red lipstick on me, but I’m just not quite there yet. This cool toned red is really pretty I just don’t think it does anything for my colouring. I did like how glossy and hydrating these lipsticks are, but keep in mind they only last about an hour before you’ll need a touch up.

Today’s makeup:

  • Almay Smart Shade Perfect & Correct Primer
  • Avon Ideal Flawless Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
  • Nars Blush/Bronzer in Laguna/Orgasm
  • Avon Mega Effects Liquid Eye Liner
  • Mark. Color Swing Compact (purple)
  • Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara

What’s your favourite lip product for spring? Lipgloss? Chapstick? Let me know in the comments!

K how do you pull off all the colours so easily? Also, do you apply lip liner to make the lines ‘sharp’?

I normally do use lip liner if I have one in the right colour to match the lipstick. I wanted to try these out on bare lips first to see how they performed and while I really like them I would suggest a lip liner as they are a more “slippery” or liquidy formula and tend to feather a bit :/

These colours are all SO stunning on you!! It’s too bad that Plum Verbena bleeds, it’s such a pretty colour. The formula sounds so dreamy, kind of like the Maybelline Colour Whispers that I love so much!

Yes, that’s a good comparison! The texture is similar to the Color Whispers for sure : ) I think with the right lip liner I could wear the plum shade without problems. I do love the colour!

I LOVE the first two; I think they are simply STUNNING and just translate so beautifully against your skin!

Ooh, I love all three of these shades! I love a good sheer lipstick (but in a bold colour) for Spring! 🙂

Totally, I’ve recently started to get back into Avon and Mark. (their “younger” line). You can order everything online now which is awesome, no consultant needed if you don’t want to go that route!
