Frenchie Friday: Fort Funston

It’s time for another Frenchie Friday! A few weeks ago our neighbours invited us to join them for a trip to Fort Funston. They also have a dog (an adorable pug named Mandarin) and they encouraged us to bring Buffy as Fort Funston is known in San Francisco for being “doggy heaven.”  We happily tagged along on their day trip and I’m so glad we did! We had so much fun watching the dogs run off leash along the beach and even enjoyed a little picnic ourselves! I mean, it has the word “fun” in the name, so you KNOW it’s gonna be a blast!

Fort Funston is a popular spot for hang-gliding, horseback riding and hiking as well as a retreat for dogs away from the busy city. It’s an amazing area for dogs to run off leash for hours and we really enjoyed the beautiful views.

I took about 100 photos of these two playing but I’ve tried to narrow it down. TRIED.

There was an area toward the end of the beach where a lot of families were having picnics and it’s not as dog friendly. Buffy MAY have ran over to a little girl and toppled her over with excitement. The little girl was startled as Buffy tried to lick her to death but we just turned around and walked back along the “dog park” section of the beach.

There were a few sections like this that had crazy colourful street art. Mandarin is blending into the concrete but he’s there!

As we walked along we noticed a sand hill and of course Buffy ran right up it and stood at the top like a queen on her throne. Look how jacked she looks in this photo. Flex those bi’s and tri’s Buffy!

My husband is apparently the dog whisperer.

This was Buffy’s first time in the ocean or in any large body of water and while she looks terrified she was totally fine. We laughed so hard at how top heavy she is, she can barely keep herself afloat!

Needless to say some long naps were had when we got home! Happy Frenchie Friday everyone : )
