Happy Makeup Monday y’all! Today I’m showing you my latest purchase from theBalm Cosmetics, a San Francisco based beauty brand. Their products can be tricky to find in Canada, but you can find most of their collections on NailPolishCanada.com with free shipping on order over $25!
I picked up theBalm Smoke Balm Eyeshadow Palette a few weeks ago from their Flagship store here in San Francisco and couldn’t wait to get it home and start playing around with the beautiful colours inside.
It includes three gorgeous shades, two shimmer (left and right) and one matte (center). For such a small compact there are still a variety of looks I was able to create. And can we talk about the packaging? Their products are always so cheeky and I love that.
When I purchased this palette I thought the shade on the left was a shimmery gray but it turned out to be a very dark green. I actually like it more because I don’t currently have any green eyeshadow colours in my makeup collection.
Kindle is a dark forest green with gold flecks. It’s nicely pigmented and can be built up to a very dark and smokey shade.
Glow is a little powdery and my least favourite in the palette. It’s still pretty but it’s so powdery that I feel like I have to apply it three or four times in order to actually see the colour. You can see in the watch above that it settles into lines more than the other two as well.
Combust is everything you want in a highlighting shade. It’s bright and shimmery which is perfect for highlighting the inner corner of my eye and under my brow bone.
Above is how I used this palette most often:
- Combust all over the lid
- Glow on the outer corner
- Kindle in the crease
- Glow along the lower lashline
I finished off with some liquid liner and mascara and this is the final look!
This is a very light and natural smokey eye look but if you want to see me try a more dramatic smokey eye with this palette let me know and I’ll be sure to do a post on it!

This looks like the perfect palette for a makeup newbie. A dark shade for crease/outer corner, a medium shade for lid, and a highlight! All 3 colours look awesome! 😀
