Blogger Emily Weiss launched her own skincare and makeup collection last year called Glossier (pronounced glossy-aye). She released the Glossier Phase 1 Set which includes the Priming Moisturizer ($25 US), Balm Dotcom ($12 US), Perfecting Skin Tint ($26 US) and the Soothing Face Mist ($18 US). I picked up three out of the four products from the Phase 1 Set. I chose not to buy the face mist because I already have a DIY one I am really enjoying (it’s literally just Lavender essential oil and water).
A few months ago they also came out with two face masks, the Mega Greens Galaxy Pack ($22 US) and the Moisturizing Moon Mask ($22 US). I chose to get the moisturizing mask because, obviously I’m always looking to hydrate my flaky and dehydrated skin!
Moisturizing Moon Mask
This mask reminds me of a gel moisturizer. It feels like you are applying gobs of face cream and you can literally see your skin drinking it up during the 20 minutes you leave it on. By the time I was ready to remove it there was very little still left on my skin!
It contains sweet almond oil which is super hydrating and soothing. I have super sensitive skin and I did notice a tingle while this mask was doing it’s work (maybe it’s the lemon and licorice?) Luckily they also added honey and aloe and that helped to soothe my skin so it never got to the point of feeling uncomfortable or irritated.
Afterward my skin felt plump, smooth and hydrated!
Balm Dotcom
This universal skin salve (ew, I still hate that word) is good for lips, cuticles, elbows and anywhere else that needs intense hydration. This reminds me of Polysporin only thicker. I had to squeeze the bottle with both hands to get anything to come out!
It contains castor seed oil and beeswax, both of which keep moisture locked in. I’ve been using it as a lip balm and it works like a charm. I put it on at night and it’s still there keeping my lips soft and moisturized in the morning! I also apply it on blemishes that I might have *ahem* picked at… I know I’m bad! It creates a protective barrier that allows it to heal faster.
Priming Moisturizer
This has become my new favourite morning moisturizer. The mushroom extract plumps up skin and makes it appear super dewy. Even on my no-makeup days I love applying it! It subtly blurs lines and pores but the biggest sell for me is that it helps mask redness and inflammation. It contains tea and honey extract which they call their “anti-redness complex”. I have rosacea, so redness is something I deal with even on the best skin days. It also contains something called an Oxygenation Agent. This is how they explain it:
“The Oxygenating Agent is made from the Nasturtium flower, which has polymers that help increase oxygen diffusion between cells at a micro level. Zooming out, that means brighter, smoother skin. It’s why we included it in the Priming Moisturizer—so your skin surface oxygen levels remain optimized, and it’s as simple as smearing on your morning moisturizer.” – Glossier
Skin Tint
This is the products I am most on the fence about. Let’s break it down.
Things I like:
- It contains diamond powder which gives skin a brightening effect and a dewy glow
- It’s unscented and hypoallergenic so my skin is reaction-free
- It slightly blurs pores and fine lines
- The gel-like texture makes it feel velvety on the skin
Things I don’t like:
- It’s mess to apply. The texture is like water so it’s very easy to get it – well – everywhere!
- It’s extremely sheer, even more sheer than the lightest BB cream I’ve used. For someone like me with rosacea and breakouts this does nothing to make me feel good about my skin
I’m still on the side of liking it but I just wish it offered a bit more coverage. Glossier is all about skincare and encouraging people to take care of their skin so they don’t have to cover it up with makeup. While I absolutely love that sentiment, for people with trouble skin it isn’t quite that simple.
Overall I am absolutely loving the Phase 1 Set and the mask as well. I can’t wait to see what Emily and the Glossier team come up with next! If I could make one suggestions it would be to come out with a concealer. That way people with breakouts and problem skin can use the Skin Tint all over and use the concealer to spot treat any areas that need more coverage.
What are your thoughts on Glossier? Let me know in the comments!

I’m always so stoked when bloggers and vloggers get their own lines! I’m much more into the idea of the CoverFX drops than the one from Glossier, but I really love the sound of that mask.

The mask is awesome! And the Skin Tint is great on days when my skin looks good (which is rare) but most days it just doesn’t have enough coverage : /

I’m a regular ITG reader and have been super curious about this line! While I worried that the moisturizer might be too rich and the tinted moisturizer a bit sheer (as you found), I would really like to try the masks!

Oh yeah the mask is awesome. I think the Skin Tint is a great idea and has some lovely brightening ingredients, it’s just way too sheer. The skincare is really great though!
