My legs are straight up pale. There’s no beating around the bush, they are in serious need of some colour. My days of running to the tanning salon are long over (bye 2006 Megan!) and now I’m all about sunless tanning. Tanning products have come a really long way, even within the last few years. Where once we were orange, now we are perfectly bronzed! Who knew self tanners could give us the beautiful golden skin we desire without streaks? Hallelujah!
The Body Shop recently added some new products to their Honey Bronze Collection and were kind enough to send me some samples to try out!
Honey Bronze Tinted Face Gel ($16 CAD)
With Community Fair Trade Honey from Ethiopia this tinted gel gives your skin a hint of colour with a matte finish. It smells like the beach and it feels like a velvety primer on the skin. It’s a wash off formula so there’s no commitment. Just apply in the morning and wash off at night! No streaks and no orange colour. I’ve been wearing this daily not only for the subtle bronze colour but also because it feels so lovely on my skin and is also really hydrating.
Honey Bronze Tinted Leg Mist ($20 CAD)
Finally a leg self tanner that isn’t full of glitter! This matte formula leaves your legs looking naturally bronzed instead of glittery. Some people love the shimmery tanned look but it’s just not for me. I don’t think all tanning products need to have glitter – just saying. It lasts for a day or two and also has the same yummy beachy scent as the Tinted Face Gel.
The only flaw in this product is the applicator. It shoots straight out instead of spraying like a mist. As a result you may get some splash spots (as seen on my hand above). The easy way to avoid this is to spray it into your hand and rub it onto your legs. Spraying directly onto your legs will result in a much messier application.
Here is my before and after. The left leg is my natural leg colour and on the right I’ve applied the Honey Bronze Tinted Leg Mist. It’s subtle, but there is definitely a difference!
Honey Bronze Highlighting Domes ($16 CAD)
These gorgeous little spheres are shimmery highlighters that you can use individually or together. Check out Julie’s post, she used all three to create a highlight/blush/bronzer look that’s super pretty!
The website doesn’t assign colours or names to these but they are essentially bronze, rose and champagne shades. They have a lot of glitter so you’ll get a great shimmery look with these guys. My favourite is the champagne (on the right in the photo above), it’s great on your cheekbones for a dewy finish.
My only issue with these were the application. They suggest you apply these directly onto your cheeks (the dome shape is perfect for this). I have rosacea and spend a lot of time covering up the redness on my cheeks, and when I swept the Highlighting Dome across my cheekbone it seemed to rub off my foundation a little bit which made my redness peek through. For the average person you wouldn’t even notice this but if you have a lot of redness in your cheek area you will.
A better application tip? Rub the dome on your fingertips first and gently tap the colour onto your cheekbones. You’ll get the same beautiful glow without disrupting your foundation!
You can find the Honey Bronze Collection online or at The Body Shop locations across Canada!

These are great for us pale ladies that just want a hint of colour! Let me know what you think if you end up trying them out : )

These sound wonderful! I’ve always shied away from self-tanners for fear of looking like an oompa loompa, but it does seem like they have come a long way.
Megan Joy says
I’m not huge into self tanner either, mostly because I don’t really know how to apply them very well. These ones were pretty foolproof!

will definitely try this new ‘leg’ product – thanks for keeping us up to date with improved self-tanners.
Megan Joy says
I’m always trying out the latest stuff, I have to keep up to date on this stuff : )

Thanks for the shout out! I definitely recommend using fingertips as well, although I didn’t have too much trouble rubbing on my cheek.
Megan Joy says
Of course, I love how you used all three of them! They blended to nicely together. I’m glad you didn’t have an issues with tugging on your skin when applying them.

Not sure I’m a huge fan of the Honey Bronze colour (looks like it could easily be orange if you applied more). But oooooo my lord I love those highlighting domes!!! Freakin’ eh. All of them are beautiful. Especially that golden one on the far right. Ugh. Well, all of them are so nice.
Megan Joy says
Haha you are the goddess of self tanner – yours always looks so natural! I didn’t find it orange on my but I also only applied one coat on my legs. The highlighting domes are so pretty! I keep changing my mind on which one I like best lol

i like how subtle this is for your legs, great for fair skin, especially if you can build it up a bit.
Megan Joy says
Totally, I really wasn’t sure how it would work on my since my legs haven’t seen the sun in a while. It was so subtle, I’m impressed!
Beyond Blush says
I’m really loving the subtle difference from the leg mist!!
Megan Joy says
Thanks so much! I was pleasantly surprised by now sheer it was. I think it could be buildable but I’m ok with the subtle tan : )

I was at The Body Shop the other day and thought about picking up the tinted leg mist, but then decided against it. I’ll be adding it to my list now though. Thanks for the review, Megan!

It’s pretty great, I like the subtle tan look so it’s perfect for me!

I’m definitely most interested in the spray! I’ve NEVER been a self-tanner or anything close, but I really like your before and after shots. A very minimal and natural change, but that’s definitely something I’d be looking for.
I wonder why so many companies do stuff with glitter? I’m no glitter hater by any means, but with the love for matte bronzers like Hoola, one would think that they would try and produce more like that!
Megan Joy says
I honestly don’t know why so many tanning products have shimmer and glitter! I don’t hate it but it seems to be in most of them lol I love the Hoola bronzer!
