Lash Lift Service at Beauty Room

May 28, 2015 36 Comments

lashlift8

Something very exciting happened to my lashes this week. I was referred by my friend and fellow blogger Elaine to check out the Lash Lift service at Beauty Room. After I saw Elaine’s before/after photos I immediately called and booked my appointment.

Located inside L Studio in Liberty Village Beauty Room is an adorable salon that offers waxing, facials, nail services as well as lash treatments.

Owner and aesthetician Amanda was so sweet totally made me feel comfortable. Bonus? Her 8 year old dog Bugsy was with her. He slept out front the whole time but I couldn’t help but snap a photo of him. I mean come one, look at that face!

Before we jump into the steps of the procedure, let’s chat a bit about what exactly the Lash Lift is. This is how Beauty Room describes the Lash Lift:

“Lash Lift is the newest in semi-permanent lash curling that works with your natural lashes. This is unlike the traditional perming system of wrapping lashes around a sponge rod, which can cause the lashes to over-curl and look short and stubby. Instead, Lash Lift uses different sizes of silicone pads and each lash is “lifted” individually, creating a perfect curl for your lash length. With lifted lashes, your eyes immediately open up and lashes appear fuller and longer.” – Beauty Room

Step 1: Protect your lower lashes

lashlift3

Let’s not beat around the bush, this looks scary. But really it’s just silicon pads that protect your lower lashes. They feel a bit weird but not uncomfortable. They do the same thing with all lash treatments so if you’ve had lash extensions applied before you know what I’m talking about here.

Step 2: Curl lashes around silicon pad

lashlift4

This is what makes the lash lift different from a lash perm. Amanda uses a different size pad depending on your lash length so you won’t end up with over-curled lashes that touch your eyelids. She used the small size on me. This gives your lashes more of a natural looking curl. At this point Amanda and I were chatting away about our dogs and all the crazy things they do. You know, like normal people who are obsessed with their dogs (I make no apologies!)

Step 3: Apply the lash perm

lashlift5

This brought me right back to the age of 6 when I had my first perm (THANKS MOM). It smells exactly like you remember perm solution smelling. The good part is it doesn’t burn your eyes. This sits on for about 10 minutes and then everything is removed and your lashes are curled for 6-8 weeks!

When she was rubbing off the perm solution it did irritate my eyes a bit, but I have extremely sensitive eyes. I’ve read several other reviews and no one else has mentioned it so it might just be me!

Now for the reveal!

lash lift

I asked Amanda to do a lash tint right after so you’ll notice my lashes are a bit darker as well. I wouldn’t get the lash tint again, I just didn’t think it made that much of a difference on me since my lashes are already brown. But if you have blonde or light lashes it would really add some extra drama!

lash lift 2

I absolutely love the results and will be going back again in 6-8 weeks. I had no idea my lashes were that long! I paid $80 because I got the lash tint as well but the Lash Lift alone is only $65. Lash extensions can run you anywhere from $120-$250 and they last for the same amount of time. I love how fast this service is (I was in and out in an hour) and it’s half the price of lash extensions.

it seems expensive but then when you point out it’s half the price of lash extensions, and leaves just as much as an impact, that’s awesome! plus you don’t have to worry about them falling out 🙂

Haha totally. For a wedding or special occasion lash extensions are still much more dramatic. But for every day I love the lash lift!

They look so good! One of my eyes’ lashes are naturally curled, but the other eye’s are droopy and never want to stay curled. This looks like a good procedure to try.

Totally! Then you don’t have to worry about bringing a lash curler along with you : ) I always had to do that and touch up my lashes every few hours because they would fall no matter how much I tried to keep them curled lol

That’s amazing, it makes such a difference! I had no idea this was even a thing, I’ve been contemplating lash extensions but I’m scared to have anything that close to my eyes…not gonna lie, those photos scared me a little but if you say it’s painless, I totally believe you 😉

Haha painless yes! It’s a weird sensation having the pads so close to your eyes so if you are squeamish about that kind of stuff it might not be right for you. But the results were great so it might be worth trying on one eye just to see how it feels?

Wow definitely a noticeable difference! I wish I had better natural lashes so I could think of doing something like this! I’m not even sure if a curl would help mine!

I thought the same thing. My lashes are really sparse and fine but I still found the results to be awesome. They normally grow straight down and she was able to get a really nice lift anyway!

They look amazing – just as you said “who knew your lashes were that long?”
You’ll have to keep us updated, as to how long the curl and lift actually lasts.
Liberty Village might get a lot busier.

Hey Colleen, I had my first lash lift done in December and I redid it at the end of February because I was going to Mexico. I haven’t redone them since and am only now starting to have to reuse the eyelash curler so for me it’s lasted quite a while!

Wow your lashes look great!! I imagine it was a bit uncomfortable to have your lashes curled up like that though while they were being permed, haha. 🙂

Haha it’s definitely a weird sensation but I wore contact lenses for years so touching my eye isn’t super scary for me.

Yay!! So glad you went to visit Amanda – she’s the sweetest isn’t she? Great photos! My eyes are always super red (normally) so they were initially red right after the treatment from having them closed but I didn’t feel any irritation. And it’s so true – your own natural lashes end up looking much longer than you expect them to!

I’ve never even heard of lash lifts – mind blown! The result is amazing! I think the lash tint would do me good since they are pretty lights. My eyes are pretty sensitive too so I wonder if they would sting a bit after though. Will keep in mind! x

My eyes were a bit red and irritated afterward and I have super sensitive eyes as well. But it went away within a few hours and the results are totally worth it for me.

I had the exact same reaction with lash extensions so they are comparable as far as reactions go.

Can you still use mascara? Or is it better to leave them alone?

Yup I still use mascara! I’m starting to get new growth in now after about 3 weeks so I am using the lash curler occasionally. I am definitely getting this done again!

How long did the lift end up lasting??? Did you find that one eye lasted longer than the other at all???
I had mine done and found one eye was dead straight in about 8 weeks and the other was still half lifted lol. So the silly eye was sorta all over the place cos my natural growth is so straight! Would love to know. Xx

I found mine lasted about 5 weeks. At 5 weeks most of my lashes were still curled but some new growth was starting to come in.
