I love the way a crisp white mani/pedi looks, especially in the summer time. It can be tough to find a white nail polish that is opaque and doesn’t leave your nails looking streaky. I’ve been using the Gel Finish 7-in-1 Nail Enamel ($7) in Iceberg lately and I really like it. Two coats give great coverage and it takes a bit longer to chip than the average polish (I can get 2-3 days out of this even without a top coat). This was a limited edition winter shade but they have a ton of spring/summer colours in everything from pastel pink to a deep emerald-green.
First I applied a base coat (Essie Grow Fast Base Coat) and then used two coats of the Avon Iceberg shade. You don’t need a base coat but I felt like applying one just to try to get a few extra days out of this manicure. The key with the Avon polish is to wait a few minutes before doing the second coat. If you do you’ll find the drying time overall is much faster.
I added dots for some extra detail using Essie Stylenomics. I wanted to use black but I realized I don’t have any black polish currently in my collection (reco’s for good ones? Let me know in the comments!) Stylenomics is a super dark green so it was a good substitute. I probably should have used a dotting tool but I was feeling lazy and decided to just use the brush. Fortunately it worked out and the dots came out relatively consistent!
I was going to apply a top coat (I’m currently loving Julep Oxygen Performance Top Coat) but I didn’t want the dots to streak so skipped that step.
This was a super easy nail look that looks a lot more fancy that it really is. Trick people into thinking you’re a nail pro and try this look for yourself : )

What a very cool minimalist look! I have a white nail polish in my stash, but have yet to give it a go. I should pull it out soon, since it’s a perfect look for summer 🙂

Dig that white polish girl! I am doing a white pedi today : ) It’s so true, it’s perfect for summer.

I remember talking to you about this polish, it really is impressive for a white, I’m a big fan. I love the look you did with it too, your nails are so nice!
Megan Joy says
Yes it was after our conversation that I dug it out of my nail polish pile and tried it. So glad I did!

I’ve been loving white polishes lately!

Me too, it always looks so crisp and clean! Glad I found a white that isn’t streaky.

I’m all about the $1.99 SinfulColors white polish, but I don’t like it on its own – I have to apply a matte top coat (by NYC … also like $.99 lol).
Megan Joy says
There are so many great, super affordable polishes these days. It makes it hard to shell out $12 for an Essie shade lol

I really love white nail polish, I think it’s super flattering! I love the dots, it’s so simple but it looks incredible, so elegant
Megan Joy says
Thanks Andy! I saw it on Emily from Into the Gloss and wanted to try it myself : )

Finding a good white polish is surprisingly difficult. I have like 5-6 whites and most of them require 3 coats and are patchy and uneven.
As for black, I love Black on Black from Sinful Colors.

Do they sell Sinful Colours at Shoppers? I know they sell it at Walgreens in the US but I’m not sure about Canada.
Chantal says
You can get them at Rexall’s for $3 (I think). 🙂

I’m so mad. I was SO close to buying the Iceberg… but then I only got the Alaska (the pale blue) and now of course, no Iceberg! 🙁
I’m an Avon rep… so was looking in the catalogue today – and saw that they have one called Crème Brule. But I couldn’t tell if it was off-white… or if it was a pearly white. I didn’t want to get it if it wasn’t white white cuz I seriously have a problem with hoarding nail polishes! Do you know what colour it is, by chance?
Still kicking my for not getting that damn Iceberg! 😛
