Wedding Guest OOTD: Featuring eShakti and Le Chateau

Wedding season is upon us! I have three this summer, how many are you attending? I love weddings – the celebration of love and commitment between two people is such a wonderful thing to see. Choosing what to wear to weddings isn’t nearly as fun! I generally end up buying three dresses and the week before the wedding decide I hate them all. Sound familiar?

The reason I have such a hard time finding dresses that I really love is because it’s tough to find a dress that fits well. Maybe it’s the right size for my waist but then it’s way too long. Or it fits in the chest but it’s loose in the shoulders. I could head to a tailor but factoring in more money on top of the cost of the dress isn’t ideal.

eShakti reached out to me a few months ago and asked if I would like to try out one of their custom dresses. They sell all their clothes in regular sizes but you also have the option to order it custom for only $7.50 extra! They recently launched several thematic lines like the  Comtemporary and Bohemian and introduced new categories like Jumpsuits, Pants and Shorts. They also gave me a coupon for YOU to get $35 off your first order. All the details are at the bottom of the post : )

I selected this floral print dress because I felt like it was formal enough for a wedding but still looked really comfortable. I also love the sheer detailing and polka dots along the top, it gave the dress a playful vibe that I really like.

I was really interested to see how well these people half way across the world could create a dress for me based off the measurements I sent them. The answer is simple: they dun real good.

When I selected the dress I wanted, the website prompted me to enter my measurements for each part of the dress (should, chest, waist, arm etc). They even have photos for each measurement to show you exactly how to do it. It made taking my measurements super fast and easy.

Because they ship from India you need to give yourself 3-4 weeks for your dress to arrive. It takes them a week or so to actually make the garment and another few weeks for it to ship to Canada/US. I got expedited shipping because I was moving and needed it before I moved addresses and it came in about 2 weeks.

dress4

I love the polka dot detailing on this dress! You might not even notice it from far away but it’s my favourite part of the dress aside from the pockets. Oh yeah, did I mention that this dress has pockets?! You might not know this, but pockets are very important to me and this dress became twice as awesome to me once I realized I had a place to store my phone and lipgloss. Winning!

The ruching around the waist is great as it’s an area I feel a bit self-conscious about and don’t like to show off. The dress is still fitted but it’s not skin tight. The dress also has a lining so the skirt feels like it has some structure.

dress6

I had the opportunity to pick out a pair of shoes from LeChateau and I went for these nude sandals because I knew they would be perfect for all my upcoming weddings. They are surprisingly comfortable considering I very rarely wear heels. The neutral colour works with any shade, so no matter what I end up wearing I can pair it with these adorable sandals!

The dress I ordered from eShatki is no longer available but there is a similar dress still on their website here for the same price ($69.95 US). Most of the dresses on their site will range from $50-$100 but they often have sales. My shoes can be found at LeChateau.com for $69.95.

eShakti was kind enough to give me a promo code to share with you. Use this code for $35 off your purchase! But it’s only valid until June 30, so hurry!

Ooh it really does fit you everywhere perfectly! I love the invisible part on the chest with the little dots, so pretty. Clearly that’s the most technical term I could think of 🙂

I know I was writing it and I kept thinking “how the heck do I describe this part?” I am the worst at fashion terms lol

Meshy, see-throughy-part works for me lol

I wouldn’t have thought to try Le Chateau for shoes but they have a pretty great selection. And they have half-sizes!

I had no idea places like that existed that could do custom dresses for the same price as an “off the rack” dress. I wouldn’t do it for every day clothes but for something like a dress for a special occasion it’s a nice option!
