Skincare for Sensitive Skin: THEFACESHOP Calming Seed Skincare Collection

I was lucky enough to be selected for a campaign through the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Network to review a few things from the THEFACESHOP Calming Seed Collection. I was sent 3 products to try out and see how they worked for my sensitive skin. THEFACESHOP is a Korean brand that has been around for over 10 years and is now available in Canada. Their mission is to create high quality skincare that’s still affordable.

When I hear that a brand is from Asia I have high expectations because let’s face it – Asian brands do skincare the best. They are always 5 years ahead of North American when it comes to the latest skincare trends (BB creams anyone?) I had never tried anything from this brand so I was really excited to see how they performed.

All the products from the line contain two main ingredients. First is Tamanu seed, which is a moisturizing ingredient and a natural protective agent for the skin. Second is Glycyrrhizin which is a botanical-based ingredient from Chinese liquorice extract that soothes irritated skin.

Calming Seed Mild Bubble Foam Cleanser ($15 CAD)

This cleanser is sort of a mix between a cream and a gel. It contains 95% natural ingredients including coconut oil and rose flower oil.

There is absolutely so scent that I can detect which is always a positive thing when you have sensitive skin. It’s easier to foam up in your hands first rather than trying to get a lather going on your face. I do find that I need to use a wash cloth to remove it because water alone isn’t enough to take it off, some residue will remain. You will need to use a makeup remover before this though, it is a cleanser not a makeup remover. My skin feels soft and moisturized afterward!

Calming Seed Soothing Cream ($34.00 CAD)

This super moisturizing cream is all about hydrating your skin without causing irritation. They say you can use it morning and evening but I found it to heavy for the morning. It will leave your skin looking a little oily but if you put it on a night it’s totally soaked in by morning and your skin looks dewy and soft! I didn’t love this product but it did what it claimed to do – moisturized my skin while being super gentle at the same time.

Calming Seed 1- Second Calming Mist Toner ($23 CAD)

I love this spray! I use it all the time. I use it in the morning before applying my makeup and at night before bed. I even use it after plucking my eyebrows. Anytime my skin was feeling irritated I just spritzed this on and it made my skin feel cool and soothed.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks and I haven’t even made a dent in it yet, so you get a lot of product for the price. It has a light scent that I can’t quite place but I like it. It’s sort of earthy smelling but it’s very subtle.

Overall I liked these products and the 1-Second Mist Toner was my favourite by far. Have you ever tried anything from THEFACESHOP? Let me know in the comments!

The first night I used the cleanser, I didn’t remove my makeup first. Big big mistake. I really liked everything though, it really worked for me! The mist is SO good, I love that it’s in a spritzy bottle!

Oh no! I’ve done that before with other cleansers and realized the hard way when basically all my makeup it still left on my face lol This one does a great job of cleansing though!

SO WEIRD that you talked about this today on your blog! When I was trying to cool off at the mall (they have A/C and I didn’t want to turn mine on… lol) I walked passed this store, and was wondering if it was Canadian because apparently I follow them on Instagram and saw a pic today too… but then they wrote me back saying it’s a korean brand.

This is my first time trying them! I think they just opened a location at the Eaton’s Center as well. I want to try more products from them because every blogger raves about them. I loved the spray but the other two products were just ok.

Maybe the cream would be better for winter? These do sound really nice and I like how they’re unscented!
