Bump Day: 17 Weeks

October 22, 2015 31 Comments

17-week-baby-bump

So…I’m 17 weeks pregnant. I’m not sure if the time is crawling slowly or flying by. I think my answer would change depending on the moment you ask me. Sometimes I feel like I’ve already been pregnant for a while but other times I feel like this whole process is so new and scary and exciting!

This wasn’t really meant to be an “Outfit of the Day” or a “Bump Style” post as this was just what I was wearing today while working from home and wanting to be comfortable. I have a few “Bump Style” posts coming your way in the coming weeks and I promise, the outfits are much more interesting than this one : ) I hope so anyway! I just wanted to take a bump photo this week since I haven’t been doing it so far and I think it will be fun to look back on.

17-weeks
Guys, there’s a tiny human in there!

I’m at that weird point in my pregnancy where I’m too big for my regular jeans but a bit too small for maternity jeans too. I often have to pull up the band on these pants to keep it from sliding down, but they are so comfortable I don’t mind at all. It sort of looks like I ate one too many burritos rather than being pregnant but I’m embracing my body through each stage – even the awkward ones!

What I’m Wearing:

  • H&M MAMA Jersey Top ($12.95 US)
  • Thyme Maternity Skinny Jean (Reg price 69.99 CAD, I paid about $44 CAD) * Thanks to Laura Montgomery for the 40% off coupon I used to buy these!
  • Vans Perforated Leather Slip-Ons ($60 US)

17-week-2

I’ve been wanting these shoes for soooo long. Every store that sells them in Toronto is always sold out so I was really excited to find them our first weekend here in Portland. I got them a half-size up because the sales associate reminded me that my feet will swell throughout the pregnancy and it wouldn’t hurt to have a little extra wiggle room – literally! They are so comfortable it’s crazy and I’ve been wearing them non-stop.

What’s Happening At 17 Weeks:

  • Baby is about the size of a navel orange
  • I started feeling “flutters” and movement for the first time!
  • Back aches are in full effect
  • I’m (still) craving pickles – how stereotypical!

That’s it for today! I’ll try to do a bump photo every week and I think it will be fun to see how my body changes and grows over the next few months. See you in my next post!

We don’t know the gender yet. We will find out in the next 3 or 4 weeks though! I am so excited to find out. Our families are split on predicting if it’s a boy or a girl : )

I crave pickles ALL THE TIME as a not-pregnant, I imagine I will basically be slurping kimchi and pickled vegetables 24/7 when I am.

Love this post, love this update!

Me too, I really liked pickles before but now I could eat a whole jar in a day. I have to force myself to stop! :O

You look so cute with the little bump starting to show!!

Also, never anything wrong with a basic jeans and a tee outfit. I love those shoes so much and haven’t been able to find them in my size either. Struggles!

Most days I dress like this anyway, I just try to look a bit more stylish when I take photos for my blog normally lol

These shoes are SO hard to find in Canada. I even tried ordering them from the US website and shipping them to Toronto but they don’t ship to Canada. So frustrating!

Cute bump & congrats again! Since I read above that you will find out the gender in a few weeks, will you be doing a gender reveal party? I’ve seen a lot that were really cute and creative.

I don’t think so, we just moved to Portland so we wouldn’t have many people to invite lol If we were still in Canada we might! Maybe I’ll just do a reveal on my blog : )

You look totally adorable, Megan!!! Have you tried the old wives’ tales for predicting the baby’s gender? So fun! You should try it. 🙂

All the best on your pregnancy and enjoy your second trimester. It’s the best time! 🙂
