Bump Style: Comfy Fall Outfit

In Portland the fall is chilly but nothing compared to Toronto. The fact that I can wear this outfit without a jacket is a testament to that! I’m loving the opportunities to layer, layer, layer! Even before I got pregnant my preferred style was a flowy top with leggings or skinny jeans. Thankfully this silhouette is also flattering when you are styling your baby bump.

I was excited to bust out this poncho/cape from Forever 21 this season! I picked it up last year when I was still living in San Francisco and it was rare that it got cool enough for me to wear it.

One of the other perks of fall? Stealing your husbands toque because it’s more slouchy and comfortable than yours. Shhh…just don’t tell him ; )

I paired the poncho/cape with some maternity leggings and my favourite Steve Madden boots. This is my second pair, the first pair I literally wore out after wearing them for over 2 years (all year round!)

This style of sweater is so easy to throw on and if your bump is on the smaller side you can’t even tell your pregnant. Not that I care, I love when my bump shows. But if you are early on in your pregnancy and trying to hide your tummy this is an awesome option for you!

What I wore:

  • Poncho: Forever 21 (Similar here and here)
  • Tights: Thyme Maternity ($24 CAD)
  • Boots: Steve Madden Troopa Boots in Black ($99.99 US, $150 CAD)
  • Watch: Daniel Wellington Classic St Mawes in Rose Gold ($199 US, $269 CAD)

I wore this exact outfit last fall, long before I was pregnant : ) It works regardless. I actually wore the “cape” on a plane and it was so comfortable!

Boots! I love pulling out my boots. I also like getting away with slouchy sweaters

I’ve definitely noticed Forever 21 and similar stores coming out with heaps of capes and blankety scarves, and I really like it! I really like getting to wrap myself in comfy pieces like that. I still have yet to pull out my long leather boots, because I don’t think it’s quite cool enough in NYC – but I do always love getting to the stage where I reach for them regularly.

Yes, Forever 21 has some gems that’s for sure. I am all about comfortable layering all year round but especially in the fall! I bet NYC is beautiful in the fall : )
