There are a lot of things that you don’t know when you first become pregnant. A LOT. One of those things is that it’s really hard to find cute maternity clothes that won’t break the bank. I’m not sure why maternity boutiques justify jacking the prices, maybe it’s all that extra fabric to cover our bumps : ) I’m not down with spending a fortune on clothes I will only wear for a few months so as soon as my jeans started getting tight I began my hunt for budget friendly maternity clothes.
Several of my friends recommended Pink Blush Maternity and I can totally see why. They are an online shop that sells trendy maternity clothes at reasonable prices. Finally! Once I looked at their website I realized their clothing is totally my style. Almost every piece is shown on a pregnant woman AND non-pregnant model. These clothes are meant to be worn pre/during/post baby bump. So you won’t be tossing out these things once the baby arrives.
As a side note, I should say that not everyone needs to purchase maternity wear. I know people who bought one pair of maternity jeans and rocked their regular wardrobe all 9 months long. WERK GIRL! But for me, my clothes are starting to fit really weird and even my trusty leggings are feeling uncomfortable. I’ll admit, when my favourite pair of leggings started digging into my tummy ’twas a sad sad day. So if you are like me and need a few pieces to help get you to that 9 month mark, Pink Blush might be worth a browse.
Beige Lace Lined Flare Maternity Top ($35)
This light-knit tunic is beyond comfy. I’ll be wearing this long after the baby arrives! I love the lace detailing along the bottom. It does wrinkle easily so if you are lazy and hate to iron (like me) it’s something to note.
Black Plaid Layered Knit Maternity Top ($34)
I’m obsessed. As with all Pink Blush clothing it is meant to be worn before, during and after pregnancy! And this little number will get a lot of wear for years to come. The back is cut open with the plaid peeking through and I love those little extra details.
It’s a little see through (which I didn’t realize until after I took these photos) so next time I’ll wear a black tank underneath. Oops!
Charcoal Crochet Cuff Hooded Knit Maternity Top ($34 US)
This is a gauze-y long sleeved shirt that is long enough to be worn over leggings but I decided to roll up the hem a bit and wear it with jeans. It’s not super warm so layering is key with this piece, but I love the pocket in the front and the hood too. The embroidered sleeves are so pretty!

Megan,
Stumbled upon your blog (LOVE, btw) through the ever expanding world of social media. Not sure if you’ll remember me but we used to work together (briefly) at Empire theaters in St. Catherines…we also took pop music class with T. Cox..anywho, even if you don’t recall, it’s so great to ‘see’ you. You look perfectly pregnant and again just wanted to say I’m loving the blog. 🙂
My fav pregnancy movie is Nine Months…it was made in the 90s so I’m sure it is horribly outdated but good for a laugh. If you have Netflix, you’ll find it there..
All the best,
Kayleigh
Megan Joy says

You are really rocking the bump style! It’s so nice to know there’s companies out there that understand most people don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on maternity clothes…but it’s still nice to know you can wear these pieces after the baby arrives too.

Megan Joy says
It was in one of the posts you send me a while back with the top maternity shops on it. I owe it all to you that I discovered this brand!
Bibiche says
I know!!! It’s crazy the maternity clothes section – I managed until now (40 weeks) not to buy any of those expensive pieces. It’s quite a challenge but you gotta be a little creative as you say. You go girl! Keep an eye out on you, keep up the good work 🙂
