Buxom Leave Your Mark Lip Set: Swatches and Review

December 14, 2015 32 Comments

buxom leave your mark

Happy Holidays everyone! I can’t believe Christmas is only a few weeks away! Time to watch Home Alone in my pajamas with a giant bowl of popcorn. Traditions, am I right?

There’s just something about a gift set that draws me in every time. I have a sneaking suspicion it may have something to do with how cute the little minis always are. Truth be told anything miniature usually catches my eye! Does anyone else use those adorable Vaseline Lip Therapy Minis? THEY ARE THE CUTEST!

After hearing amazing things about Buxom lip glosses I finally had the chance to try them out. Buxom was kind enough to send me their Buxom Leave Your Mark Full-On Lip Polish & Lip Cream Set $59.00 US ($135.00 US value). This set contains mini 15 lip glosses – 8 lip polishes (shimmers) and 7 lip creams which are all paraben free.

L-R: Sandy, Bunny, Sophia, Taylor, Olivia, Jennifer, Starr, Zoe

The Buxom Lip Polishes feature the same minty, cooling sensation you expect from Buxom lip products. They all contain glitter which at first was kind of a turn off for me. I hate that gritty feeling you get when you rub your lips together while wearing a glittery lip gloss.

Luckily for me the shimmer in these are so fine that there was literally no grainy texture. At all. The shimmer becomes more obvious the darker the colour is, so the lighter shades like Sandy and Bunny look like a traditional gloss but the deeper red shades show off the shimmer much more.

The Lip Polishes applied really nicely and didn’t cling to my dry patches as much as some other lip products do. They have a slippery feel, not goopy which is nice. Somehow they manage to stay on my lips for 2+ hours which is a feat considering I am a habitual lip chewer.

My favourites are Sophia and Jennifer.

L-R: White Russian, Hot Toddy, Dolly, Pink Lady, Berry Blast, Purple Haze, Cherry Flip

The Buxom Lip Creams are smooth and moisturizing but are a bit more streaky than the Lip Polishes. It’s especially obvious with White Russian and Pink Lady. I did find the darker shades were a bit patchy but keep in mind I have very dry lips, so this might not be the case for everyone. The lasting power is about the same (about 2 hours) and even after reapplying several times my lips felt hydrated and smooth.

They also have the minty feel that I enjoy and I love the colour selection. The shades range from pastel pink to bright red so you can easily find a shade that works for you.

My favourites are Dolly and Berry Blast!

I can safely say that I am totally addicted to these lippies. Want to try them for yourself or pick one up for a friend? You can purchase this holiday gift set at Sephora!

What is your favourite shade from each collection? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks Chantal! Purple Haze is much more wearable than I thought it would be for sure! In the tube it looked like a bright purple! lol

Last night I was going through my stash for a new gloss to wear and turns out I have Sophia! I can’t remember where I got it from though, and it’s a mini. I’m wearing it today and holy winter cool on my lips, lol!

I used to be obsessed with these a few years ago, and I actually used up all of the minis from a holiday set! I think I need these back in my life now though 🙂

If I didn’t have so many shades of lipsticks and a few buxom, I would’ve totally gotten this set! I wanted their set last year too but resisted. I love the minty feeling and the colours are great! I think out of the set Berry Blast is my favourite!

With the amount of colours I got this in this set it will be hard to justify buying any more lip glosses for a while (but I’ll find a way… hee hee!)

absolutely perfect lip swatches! I like the brights best: Cherry Flip, Berry Blast. I wish they didn’t have peppermint oil in them (or that’s what I read), otherwise I couldn’t pass them by

Oh no! Do you have an allergy to peppermint or you just don’t care for it?

I really like Sandy! I’m not really a gloss person but that one looks almost like a shiny lip balm, which I’d be all over, haha.

Yes! The lighter shades are really nice and have the look of a balm for sure, especially once you’ve had them on for an hour or so and they aren’t so glossy.

Cherry Flip is an awesome colour! I need to be more brave with my lip colour choices, it’s such a nice red but it’s hard to step out of my comfort zone of pinks/neutrals!

I love the reds and purples but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t gravitate towards the more neutral shades. Nice to know i have some brighter colours if I decide to be more brave : )

I was impressed! And because they have the cooling element to them once it wears off it’s a good indication that it’s time to reapply. Loving these!
