I seriously don’t know how I got so lucky but I recently flew home to Canada to have not one, but TWO baby showers! I am seriously so thankful to my friends Erin and Ashley who planned a shower for me and my friends, and to my mom who organized a family shower as well. Today I’m sharing some photos and memories from the shower with my friends, so prepare yourself for some cuteness!
Because it’s January it was so difficult to find a dress that was appropriate for a baby shower since everything is still winter colours. I was so happy when I finally found this floral dress from PinkBlush Maternity! I bought it 5 days before I left to fly home and I’m so glad it arrived in time (with 1 day to spare actually!) If you are looking for a dress for a baby shower definitely check out their website, I’ve been buying all my maternity clothes from them. Plus the dress I picked up is now on sale. It was $77 and now it’s only $31!
The photo above is from my family shower but I didn’t take any photos of myself or other people at the shower with my friends (oops!) so I had to improvise : )
The shower had a “Tea Party” theme! I know right? It’s beyond adorable. How cute are these tea cups? Everything was pink and mint which is really fun because those are very similar to the colours we chose for our baby room (coral and mint). We hadn’t told anyone yet so it was just a happy coincidence that they happened to pick those colours.
I decided that since I won’t be home again for a while (maybe not until Christmas 2016) I wanted to have a Baby Shower Memory Book as a keepsake. This might be something you want to do if you are travelling home for a shower or if you live far away from friends and family.
I chose this yellow lace journal ($16 USD) from Minted.com. They have a whole children’s section on their website where you can purchase adorable prints and decor for your baby’s nursery or children’s room. All of them are customizable so you can add your baby’s first initial or even switch up the colours!
I asked each person who attended the shower to write a little note saying whatever they’d like. Some shared a piece of advice and some wrote well wishes to James and I. Every entry is so special to me and I’ve already re-read them many times. It was a wonderful way to bring a little piece of each person home with me. I can already tell that there is some sage parenting advice in there!
You can customize their journals as well, so I added this inscription on the inside cover to make it more personal.
We snacked on delicious macarons and cupcakes and sipped on tea while I got some much needed girl time. It was honestly the most relaxing and enjoyable baby shower I could have hoped for. We played a few games and then spent time swapping stories about kids, birth and parenting – all of which were extremely informative. Guys – I’ll be caring for a real human being in less than 2 months. Me. I have trouble remembering to apply deodorant and I’m going to be entrusted to care of a helpless infant? I’ll take all the advice I can get.
After the shower was over I decided to write Thank You cards right away as I am a serious procrastinator and knew I would likely put it off for months otherwise. These handmade Thank You notes from Papyrus were the perfect choice! I love the felted onesie on the front with the little button detail. I’ve purchased cards from Papyrus before and they are always made with quality paper stock and beautiful designs. They are a little pricier than the average box of cards (these were $14.95 USD for a set of 6) but I think they are well worth it.
As people left the shower my lovely BFF’s handed out these David’s Tea shower favours and I almost teared up when I saw them. First of all – way to carry the “Tea Party” theme right to the end ladies! Secondly, how sweet are those custom printed tags with the date on them? I don’t know where they got them from but they are so cute. I maaaaay have set one aside for myself and brought it home with me. I have no idea what I am going to do with it but maybe it will go in a baby box or something? I don’t care, I just couldn’t throw it out!
I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my baby shower!
What’s your favourite baby shower game? I remember playing one where they melted different chocolate bars into diapers (so it looks like poo poo – YUM!) and you have to smell them to guess what kind of chocolate bar they are lol

What a wonderful baby shower! I think the best game is the baby food game cause there are some flavors that are EASY (Sweet Potato & Banana) while few more are tough! And the faces are priceless!
