Getting Glossy: New Annabelle BigShow Lacquers

Oh Canada! One of the many things I miss about living back in Toronto is my access to Canadian brands like Annabelle and Marcelle Cosmetics. So when Annabelle offered to send me their new Annabelle BigShow Lacquer collection I was like “yes yes yes!” It launched back in January and offers a great alternative to the current matte lipstick trend. Also, I was excited to learn that Annabelle Cosmetics now ships to the US, so I can order from their online store!

While I do love matte lipsticks I have to be careful how often I use them as they are usually quite drying (especially matte liquid lipsticks). In my daily makeup routine I am much more likely to reach for a gloss. The Annabelle BigShow Lacquers are a highly pigmented and non-sticky formula that goes on like a dream. They have a citrus scent that I enjoy but it’s something to be aware of if you are sensitive to fragrance.

Adore Simply:

This is a sheer nude beige. It applied a bit streaky and was challenging to get a smooth application. Not my favorite.

Caress Tenderly:

I really like this bright coral shade. It’s perfect for spring!

Kiss Sweetly:

This is a bold, vibrant pink that is my favourite of the bunch.

Enchant Romantically:

This is a bright fuchsia that definitely makes a statement.

Love Fiercely:

This is a rich, true red and is super glossy. I can’t decide if it has any blue or pink undertones, what do you think?

Hypnotize Deeply:

Whoah mama, this is a bold, dark berry shade that I could totally see myself wearing on a night out. It did get a little messy while applying it and I had to do some “clean up” with concealer to avoid bleeding but I think it’s worth it. I really like this colour!

The colours are totally spring appropriate and for $9.95 CAD they are a great price point. They all have a slight shimmer in them but for the most part it’s very subtle once applied (thankfully). The only shade that the shimmer was still obviously once it was on my lips was Adore Simply. It did end up looking a bit frosty which is not my favourite look and overall it was streaky and hard to apply.

If there was one thing that I would change about these lip glosses it would be to remove the glitter. It’s so subtle anyway! However I feel like that’s just personal preference because I like a cream finish in my lip products. If you like a little extra sparkle you’ll love these glosses!
