We’ve moved a lot in the last 2 years. 5 times to be exact! My husband and I moved from Toronto to San Francisco back in 2014. Then we moved back to Toronto for a few months and ended 2015 by moving to Portland, Oregon! It’s been a crazy few years but it’s also been an amazing adventure that allowed us to meet so many amazing people and explore cities we never dreamed we would call home.
One of the more daunting tasks of moving into a new place is deciding on how to decorate. If you are city dwellers like us you know that every apartment and condo is different and that couch that fit perfectly in your last place might be way too big for your new digs. Or that table that was just the right size for your old kitchen is entirely too small for your new apartment. The idea of furnishing any new place can be so daunting!
I recently discovered a company from Brooklyn, New York called UncommonGoods. This online store made it their mission to source out artists and designers from across the world. They look for beautiful products that support the environment without harming animals or people. In fact, one-third of their collection features recycled and/or upcycled materials!
I decided to put together a little wishlist of the items I want to get my hands on! We are still in the process of decorating our new Portland apartment so these may go from “wishlist” to “shopping cart” very soon 🙂
1. I need this personalized family pillow. Customize it to showcase your unique family – even your fur babies! In fact in addition to your human family members you can add dogs, cats, turtles, fish and even birds. DIVERSITY! (link)

2. These custom city prints would look great in any apartment. I love the San Francisco one of course but there are numerous options including New York, Chicago and Washington just to name a few! These posters are designed in Toronto, Canada and printed in Portland, Oregon. Could they BE any more perfect for me? *Please read in Chandler Bing’s voice* (link)

3. This handmade live edge wood table is a stunning unique piece. It showcases sections of teak tree roots and is sustainably sourced and made in Indonesia. Each one of these handcrafted tables is one-of-a-kind! (link)

The pillow might be my favourite. If only they had a French Bulldog illustration 🙂

Haha I know I felt the same. I couldn’t narrow it down any further. I am a sucker for home decor – I can’t even step into a HomeSense without spending mad cashola!
