There is no shortage of parks in Portland, Oregon. In fact, you can find a beautiful green space in pretty much every neighbourhood in the city. Today Piper and I met up with a friend and her two kiddos at Irving Park, which has a great off-leash dog park, playground and more. I can’t wait to go back and bring Buffy!
I decided it was a good excuse to throw together a little picnic of snacks and drinks incase we decided to stay for a while. Not surprisingly, everything was from Whole Foods Market! James and I basically survive off of Instacart deliveries from Whole Foods. When Piper was a newborn, we were so exhausted that going to the grocery store was the last thing on our mind. Getting groceries brought to our door was a life saver!
Does anyone else still love picnics? I have such great memories of having picnic lunches with my girlfriends back in high school and college! I don’t know why I don’t do it more these days.
So what did I pack?
- 365 Freeze-dried mango slices*
- Whole Foods Market Pink Grapefruit Sparkling Italian Soda*
- Green seedless grapes
- Whole Foods Market Original Hummus
- Snack Factory Everything Pretzel Crisps
Snack lunches are my favourite kind of lunches.
Piper was so content staring up at the sky and trees while I visited with my friend. It was the first time I’ve taken her to a park so it was really fun seeing her take it all in.
Side note – when I was pregnant I always brought a bottle of something sparkly and non-alcoholic to parties. That way I would have something fun and bubbly to sip on while everyone else was enjoying wine or champagne 🙂 I wish I knew about the Grapefruit Italian Soda back then. It’s seriously yummy!
Piper started to get fussy after about an hour so we that’s when we packed up and headed home. As I write this post I am currently eating a “lunch portion” of the hummus and pretzel chips. Sorry not sorry!
What are your picnic essentials? Let me know in the comments 🙂

Adam and I are planning a picnic ourselves! We aim for an annual High Park picnic, which is always so much fun. Piper is adorable and seems to be really enjoying the scenery 🙂

I love High Park! I hope you guys have a super fun picnic there. We actually tried to get our engagement photos taken there back in 2012 but it was during cherry blossom season and it was crazy packed lol
