Make Up Forever: Water Blend Foundation + Artist Rouge Lipstick

Fall is here! And while I’m so excited for the cooler weather, I’m not quite ready to put away my summer colours. Pink is legit year round, right? 🙂

Make Up Forever was kind enough to send me a few of their new launches recently. I received an Artist Rouge lipstick and a Water Blend Face & Body Foundation (both launched back in August). It will be no surprise that I was super happy to see the lipstick was a bright pink shade! I had seen a lot of people reviewing the Water Blend Foundation so I was really interested to try it myself and see if it was as long-lasting and transfer proof as people claimed.

The Water Blend Face & Body Foundation Y225 ($54 CAD) is a lightweight, sheer and buildable formula that claims to be long-lasting, dewy and transferproof! Make Up Forever is known for its diverse shade range and this foundation is no exception. It’s available in 20 shades! It contains 80% water so it has a very liquidy texture. MUF describes it as a gel-like texture and I would agree. It also sets quickly which is wonderful if you’re in a rush or on the go.

I found this foundation gave me light to medium coverage. It is buildable, but it’s meant to be a sheer formula so you won’t be getting full coverage. It has a lovely dewy finish that gave my skin a natural glow. I have dry skin, so I can’t speak to its performance on oily or combination skin types, but I loved it. It lasted all day and didn’t break apart or rub off at all. Even after 12 hours it was still looking as good as when I first applied it. Two thumbs up!

For me, the real test was whether or not it was transferproof. I usually try to flop down for a 20 minute snooze at some point during the day while Piper is napping since…well…I’m basically exhausted all the time. #momlife. I hate when my foundation gets all over my white pillows, but I’m often too lazy to wash off my makeup before taking a quick catnap. Good news – this foundation was completely transferproof! There was no makeup on my pillow and it didn’t rub off on any of my clothes either. Win!

This foundation is great for people who are looking for light to medium coverage with a dewy, long-lasting finish. If you like a more full coverage or matte look, you might want to look for another option.

As you can see, the difference isn’t drastic but it definitely smoothed over imperfections and blurred my pores. My freckles still showed through which I really liked!

This is after I finished the rest of my makeup. I’m really happy with this foundation and as long as I’m not having a crazy breakout it is the perfect amount of coverage. It’s become my new go-to!

The Artist Rouge Collection ($27.00 CAD, $22 USD) contains 45 different vibrant shades. I received the shade C-205 which is a baby doll pink with a satin finish. Can you say “made for Megan”? 🙂 The Artist Rouge lipsticks have 25% more pigments than Rouge Artist Intense collection which makes these lip colours their brightest and boldest yet!

It goes on super smooth and the pigmentation is insane. It’s seriously the most pigmented lipstick I’ve ever used! If you’re looking for subtle lip colour then keep it movin’ girl, because this formula is intense. I actually ended up applying it and then sheering it out a little bit with my fingertips. If I had a lip liner to match, I would probably wear this at it’s full pigmentation. Since I don’t, I prefer to wear it slightly more sheer.

Helloooo hot pink realness!

It lasted several hours and faded evenly. I found the formula very hydrating but it did transfer easily when I was eating or drinking. If you are like me and love bold, pink lip shades  – this is a must have!

Ugh isn’t this amazing?! I have a really dark shade (for my skintone) but it actually works well when I have my self-tan on, so that’s good! I was surprised how much I liked it considering it didn’t look like too much swatched on the back of my hand. It looks so nice on you, too!

Thanks Nancy! It’s nice that the shade you have works for when you’ve got your tan done. I felt the same way when I swatched it. It didn’t seem like much but it’s actually pretty amazing!

Ohhh I love that pink! I wasn’t fussy on the colours I received but they do have so many great shades in the line.

It can be so hard if you get sent a sample of something and you like the formula but not the shade. I lucked out and I am loving the hot pink! You’re right, they have a pretty incredible colour selection!

This looks like a lovely natural coverage foundation on you. I wonder how it would be on oily skin. Love that it doesn’t transfer and lasts all day. Pretty lipstick shade too!

I have watched a few YouTube videos that say it works well on oily skin but you will need a setting powder. On my dry/combination skin it stays put all day, which is pretty awesome!

That foundation looks great on you. I have only ever tried mufe’s hd foundation and wish it had more of this type of look. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for it next time I get a foundation. That lipsticks is such a fun colour on you.

Thanks so much Jill! Pink lip colours are definitely my jam. I’ve never tried the HD foundation but I know it’s super popular and soooo many people love it!

Thanks Ursula! I like to try and do before/after photos when I review foundation so you can see the coverage. I usually go for full coverage but this one is a nice option when I don’t have any breakouts 🙂

It’s nice to see that MUFE has made a ligthweight foundation compared to all the full coverage ones they already have in their collection. I love their new lipsticks though! I just tried 3 of them and M401, their matte red is my favorite!
