Glossier Skincare

March 6, 2017 5 Comments

Hello friends! I’ve been wanting to write this review for weeks but with our home renovation in full swing things have been totally crazy. In a way it’s been good because it’s given me more time to try these new Glossier goodies out before I share my thoughts with you!

I’ve had great experiences with Glossier skincare and so far I’ve loved everything I’ve tried. However, their makeup products have been really hit or miss for me. The Generation G lip balms were a totally dud and I still don’t get why people are going crazy for them! I’ve been using these four products for over a month now and I’m excited to say that almost everything gets a big ol’ thumbs up from me. There is one exception, but more on that later in the post!

The Priming Moisturizer has been a favourite of mine for years now. I must be on my fourth tube of this stuff! I have sensitive dry/combination skin and this lotion perfectly balances my skin without irritation. It contains anti-redness ingredients like aloe, mushroom extract and honey which helps to calm my rosacea flare-ups. It also contains hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate and plump skin. That’s right, I’m at the age now where it’s important that my skincare make my skin look and feel plump. Welcome to life in your 30’s!

It’s lightweight but buildable, so depending on the time of year I may add a second application to my cheeks and other dry areas. Another plus? No scent. None. As the packaging says “use to prime your skin for makeup and/or life” 🙂

The Priming Moisturizer Rich is new to the Glossier lineup and this is my first time trying it. It contains the same redness reducing ingredients as the original formula, but they’ve also added shea and murumuru butter to amp up the hydration. Scent-less and non-greasy, this has become a staple in my skincare.

I started using this as a night cream and while I do find the texture and formula is thicker than the original, it’s not quite as hydrating as I expected from a night cream. Normal/oily skin types might find it sufficient, but my dry areas really need a super dose of moisturizer at night. Thankfully I found that applying a serum first really boosted it’s benefits and left my skin dewy and refreshed in the morning!

The Balm Dotcom Universal Skin Salve (ugh anyone else hate the word salve??) is another tried and true Glossier product that I’ve repurchased time and time again. I usually use the original formula that has no scent, but this time I decided to try the coconut flavour. It has a very subtle scent that I really like. I know coconut is a love/hate scent for a lot of people, so if coconut isn’t your jam they also have cherry, mint and rose flavour!

It has a waxy texture that is ultra hydrating and stays put for hours. I put this on before bed as part of my nighttime skincare routine! I also use it on my cuticles or any dry patches that need some extra moisture.

The Super Bounce Serum part of their new Super Serum collection. There are three in total which can be used together or separately. Super Bounce is meant for dry skin and claims to restore suppleness to your skin. It contains Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5! They suggest applying this under your moisturizer once a day.

I’m sad to say this was pretty disappointing. The best part of this serum is the packaging which is super (see what I did there?) adorable and makes me happy to display it on my counter top. The product itself just fell flat and it didn’t really seem to do much of anything! It didn’t irritate my skin but it also didn’t seem to have any positive effects either. The watery, milky texture absorbed quickly but my skin didn’t feel any more plump or hydrated. It’s all around “meh” in my books and not worth the $28. I’ve heard amazing things about the Super Pure though, which can be used as a spot treatment for blemishes. I may give that one a try at some point and see if I have better results!

I’m so interested in this brand, but have yet to try them. I’m thinking of placing an order online soon just because everyone recommends them so much (and I love that you’re on your 4th tube of that stuff! Man..!!). Also laughing SO hard at this “That’s right, I’m at the age now where it’s important that my skincare make my skin look and feel plump. Welcome to life in your 30’s!”

    hahahahah

It’s so true! In my 20’s I never thought about keeping my skin looking dewy and plumped haha! It’s crazy how our skin changes so much as we get older. I think you’d love their stuff, it’s all about the dewy look which is right up your alley!

Sigh being in your 30’s sucks! I know just how you feel. The cream and print sound really neat. Are these only available online?

Yes, they are an online only company (at least for now). I wish I had appreciated my smooth, clear skin more when I was younger lol

I have been hearing more and more about Glossier but I don’t think they ship to Canada :(. Hopefully that will change soon!
