We’ve been living in the new house for about 3 weeks now and while things are still pretty bare bones, it’s lovely to finally be moved in. We’re still a few more months away from the end of our reno so we’ve been making it work living mid-construction. That means very little furniture and a lot of boxes. It also means there haven’t been many opportunities to decorate for spring since there aren’t many surfaces to work with. So when Chesapeake Bay Candle sent me a few things from their Heritage Collection I was beyond stoked. Lighting these candles in the evening (or during Piper’s nap time) has created a little oasis for me amongst the current chaos. Does anyone else enjoy lighting a few candles and just snuggling up on the couch? For me this usually also includes coffee too – as seen above – because #momlife 🙂
Um, yes please. Soothing? Energizing? These are all words any mom would be drawn to 🙂 I love the clean, minimal design of these candles, even James agrees and he’s notoriously picky about home decor. They’re made from a natural soy wax blend which means they’re non-toxic and a much safer alternative to paraffin wax candles, especially if you have littles ones and animals in the house.
The packaging feels so luxurious with frosted glass that feels sturdy and well-made. They are meant to be more than a candle, they really become a decorative piece in your home. Well for me, it’s the ONLY decorative piece in my home at the moment 🙂 And the wooden lids with twine embellishment are so pretty!
My favourite has to be the Blood Orange Table Jar Candle, the scent is just so fresh and of course, citrusy. Anything with grapefruit and orange is good by me!
The Wild Lemongrass is also a lovely scent with lemongrass, eucalyptus complimented by verbena, aromatic lavender, and cool garden mint. It’s like a sweet and citrusy scent all mixed into one!
The Cypress and Oak is totally different from the other two. I find it earthy and complex with a spearmint and eucalyptus blend with woody balsam, oak and lavender. It’s the largest of the three and has an approximate burn time of 80 hours!
Last but not least is the White Gardenia Double Wick Tin Candle. This one has an interesting combination of scents that is somehow citrusy, sweet and spicy at all the same time. It contains jasmine, orange flower, and gardenia along with notes of frankincense, spices, amber, vanilla, and patchouli. I’ve had this little guy sitting on the bay window for the last few days and Piper has been trying to get her hands on it ever since. Shiny things + babies = trouble. I’ll have to find a new hiding spot for this until we get our new table.

I love that they’re made with soy instead of all that artificial scary stuff in conventional candles. I don’t want to burn toxic substances when my kids are breathing nearby! I hope you’re settling into your house—and finding the time to take a break every so often. 🙂

Those sound lovely! I always forget to burn candles but I’ve recently started, and it adds warmth and comfort to our home in the evenings! A hygge principal!

Congrats on the move! The Blood Orange candle was the first one to catch my eye and I think that would be my fave too. Sounds lovely!

I need some new candles as I’ve still got some winter scents around the house. Time for spring! I love the idea of a Blood Orange candle!
