Easy Highlighting + Contour

December 5, 2017 9 Comments

Confession: I am really bad at contouring. I can apply winged liner in the backseat of a car, but contouring is something that I’ve just never gotten the hang of. While I love a good highlight I usually skip bronzer altogether because I often end up looking orange and no amount of blending can save me.

Maybe I simply need more practice, or maybe I should just leave it to the Kardashians. Either way, now that I’m a mom I am all about easy to use, fast to apply products. Bonus points if it can pull double duty!

I’ve shared about the Nudestix Sculpting Pencil before and my feelings are still the same – it’s foolproof. You’re not going to get any severe lines with this products and you also don’t need any brushes or tools. Just swipe on and use your fingertips to blend.

One end is a medium contour shade and the other is a matte highlight. The contour is great for under the cheekbones, temples and jawline while the highlight is perfect for your inner corners and the bridge of the nose. I usually apply a shimmery highlight (like theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer) on my cheekbones after I’ve applied this to really up the glow, but if you want to be super subtle the pencil alone will do just fine.

This is without any added highlighter, only the sculpting stick. The formula is so creamy and I haven’t found anything else that compares. I recently bought the Fenty Beauty Match Stick in Amber and I’m returning it because the Nudestix pencil just blends easier and gives a more natural finish.

What are your favourite bronzing and contouring products? Let me know in the comments!

I hear you with the contouring thing – WHY DO PEOPLE MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY? I just end up looking like a zebra.

I am completely mystified at the contouring skill some have, but appreciate how this product does double duty, super functional!

I don’t know how to contour and chisel out a cheekbone, but whenever I wear makeup I PILE on the bronzer. Lol! I feel so strange without it, and …almost chunkier 🙁 Anyway I love the new BECCA Bronzers they came out with this summer… there’s a ton of shades to choose from (5?).

Good to know! I feel like you have perfected the bronzer application, it looks so natural on you. You need to do a tutorial on me next time we see each other 🙂

Thank you! I love playing with new makeup and trying different techniques. The best part is that if I mess up it washes right off 🙂
