Wow! Our last kitchen update was over a year ago and so much has changed! We now have a hood vent installed as well as trim around the window and BACKSPLASH! James did all of this himself and honestly, he did such an incredible job. Every few months something else would get checked off the list until our kitchen was finally complete.
I don’t quite know how he did it while working a full-time job and then coming home and being a present and incredible dad to our 2 year old daughter. A lot of late nights and very un-fun weekends for him unfortunately! A little gushing seems in order even though I know he will be so mad if/when he reads this because he hates this kind of attention lol
I love how the backsplash came out. James bought it from Wayfair and got it for a great price. It did take him a while to install it because of having to cut all the small pieces to fit along the countertop but it was so worth it.
Also that green countertop drying rack is meant for baby bottles but we have continued to use even though Piper stopped taking bottles years ago! It’s just the right size for hand-washed items like sippy cups and small utensils. Also, with baby number two on the way we will definitely be using it for it’s intended purpose again very soon 🙂
One of my favorite things about the kitchen are these floating shelves. I feel like I change them up almost weekly. I love moving things around and adding books or more plants to see what looks best. I still haven’t quite decided what will stay and what will go, but I am having fun figuring it out!
James and I are both pretty crazy when it comes to keeping the countertops clear and tidy. Everything that we choose to leave out is something we use daily or multiple times a day. Everything else gets tucked away in the cupboards! We lived in tiny condos for so many years that keeping things minimal has just become ingrained in us!
I wanted to give a little shoutout to this MVP space saver. Our utensil stand! We originally bought this when we got married 5 years ago and it moved approximately 6 different times with us. One of us accidentally left the original spatula in a hot pan and it got totally melted and ruined, so we ordered a new set last year. We have yet to find another stand/utensil organizer that works better! As you can see this spatula met the same fate (when will we learn?) but it still works so well we didn’t bother replacing the whole set again. They don’t sell it in this colour combo anymore but it’s available in a new shade variety!
Oh coffee. I never used to drink it and then I had a baby and realized caffeine is my BFF. James doesn’t drink coffee so we agreed on this Keurig K-Mini Coffee Maker because it makes a great single cup of coffee but takes up barely any space on the counter (I swear, we will never lose our “space saving” mentality!) Plus it comes in this cute mint colour so not only is it tiny, it’s super cute too. I could see this being a great option for an office or dorm room too. Anywhere you need things to be small and compact!
That’s it for our kitchen tour. If you want to see part 1 and part 2 of this renovation hop on over to those posts and take a look! It’s crazy to see how much the space has changed.

this is so fun! I love the shelves on each side of the window! I am just beginning to design my new kitchen, and have been thinking of doing things like tile myself. this gives me motivation! 🙂

I love that back splash! Such a great way to brighten up your kitchen. I am also a huge fan of the shelving that you chose. I love open shelving in the kitchen because it encourages me to keep things minimal. I am totally checking out that utensil stand too. How brilliant that it all stacks together!

Man your kitchen is gorgeous. And well done on all the gorgeous work, James! Also – love that utensil holder! Wish my husband was as finicky about leaving stuff out on the counter as I am lol…
